Do you want to know how to sleep better at night? Kate Bridle of Sleep HQ in Hong Kong shares her insights and top tips on how to get a good night's sleep.

1. Keep it regular
Kate says, “A regular wake up time is more important than a regular bedtime because this sets our body clock and this helps us to have good quality sleep at night.”

2. Not getting enough can make you sick (and fat)
Kate says, “We crave more unhealthy food when we are not well slept. Our exercise isn’t as efficient we can’t burn fat efficiently so if you are trying to get fit, then if you are sleep deprives you are burning muscle more than fat. We’re also more open and more at risk to colds, sickness, disease as well.”

3. Catching up on sleep isn't good for you
Kate says, “We are throwing our body clock off at the weekends which is causing a number of issues day to day with how we feel but also long term with our health.”

4. Quality is more important than quantity
Kate says, “The quality of sleep really is more important in terms of our health. So protecting your sleep environment and making sure it’s quiet and making sure it’s dark. Keeping your bedroom as a calm sanctuary that you can retreat to every single night. That makes a big, big difference.”

5. Naps aren’t good for everyone
Kate says, “If you are someone who struggles to sleep at night and has any insomnia, problems getting asleep or staying asleep avoid the naps completely. If you are someone who loves a nap and you don’t have any problems sleeping then take a nap.”

6. Don’t hit the snooze button
“If you have half an hour snooze you basically have half an hour of really bad, interrupted quality sleep. If you set your time for the final time you need to wake up, you have half an hour of good quality sleep.”

7. Hot baths really do help
Kate says, “Hot bath or hot shower really helps about an hour before sleep because it raises initially our temperature but afterwards we get this drop in temperature, core body temperature, which is really crucial to initiate the sleep process.”

To anybody who’s reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind right now. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life.

I loved the tips for sleeping better! I usually have trouble falling asleep, but lately I've been listening to the music on the Dreamy lullaby channel before bed and it's made all the difference! The songs are super relaxing and help me to quiet my mind and fall asleep more quickly. I highly recommend the channel for anyone looking to improve their sleep quality

for the past 15 years I have been getting about 4 or 5 house of sleep every night, I eat right, I do not use caffeine or anything that will keep me up at night, I have little stress other than back pain that I keep managed fairly well. I know I operate at about 60% day to day because of my ability or lack there of to sleep well. I have no problem falling asleep most nights but after about 2 hours I wake up and remain restless till around 2am or so. I wake up at 4am to start my day but I just can not stay in REM sleep. like once I start to dream my brain or body wakes me up. I know I am going to start getting very ill sooner than later. Illness has not hit me yet over the 15 years. It started when my first child was born, I became a light sleeper and was hoping that when they were gone it would go away. my youngest left the house at the end of 23 and my sleep seems to be stuck in habit form now. I have resorted to drugs to sleep, not over the counter stuff, only a couple times because after 2 or 3 years you are willing to do anything to sleep. I hope this vid helps but I have been looking for years and everyone just gives me the same crap advice that I have tried for years with no help.

🎩 regeneration and sleep are extremely important and to make them better, it is worth taking care of something that is forgotten: darkness and lack of electromagnetic radiation
👔 you should sleep without night lamps and any light, e.g. from the street from the outside, i.e. have a darkened room as much as possible it's best to put on a comfortable blindfold then sleep is very healthy, hormones stabilize significantly
👓 also if you, your loved ones or your partner want to have a light for the night, convince them not to be afraid of the dark and to like the feeling of floating away in a pleasant experience of darkness into the land of dreams
⌚ it is also worth turning off the phone and e.g. wifi and computer from the socket at night

What do you do if you just cannot wake up to an alarm no matter what? Ive tried the kind the light up, tried alarms so loud they bothered my neighbors. I could be sleeping for 6 hours or 18 and still just not be able to get up. I apparently turn off my alarms half the time without any memory of it and my partner has to shake me awake to force me to turn it off on the days I don't. I'm late to work embarassingly often and my partner is losing sleep over my issues. My parents used to not be able to wake me from night terrors and sleep walking either, so this has been a problem since I was very young. I'm at a loss. I can't seem to set a healthy sleep routine when I can't even consistently get up at the same time every day.

A lot about benefits but not much about how to sleep better. Misleading video title I think.
