5 Signs You're Not An ISFP

Presenting 5 signs you are not an ISFP. This video does away with the misleading I-S-F-P dichotomies of MBTI, presenting instead a deep dive into the underlying cognitive functions of this Introverted Feeling dominant type. See below for function descriptions.

Note: 12:50 mentions the TeNe blindspot instilling a 'one person army' approach to work. While this is true, ESTJs can nonetheless have a similar trait - however, TeNe is not exacting in its processes, and more naturally given to collaboration as it arises. TeSe, however, tends to necessitate precise control over every process important to FiNi.

About me:
Hi, I'm Harry, and I'm intensely passionate about personality typing and self-development - so much so that I have created my own Jung-inspired system, taking a more high-resolution look at the factors making up personality.

Through Cognitive Personality Theory I examine the underlying mechanisms behind cognition, and the means through which a single type can have limitless individual variation - I believe type itself is just a set of cognitive predispositions that can according to the needs of the situation be overcome.

I don't believe any type is limited in what they can achieve, but have noticed sensationalist attitudes and internet trends propagating a culture in which type-development is actively discouraged in favour of conforming to simplistic archetypes. Through CPT I hope to dispel various myths and oversimplifications of what constitutes personality type, and along the way encourage a healthier attitude towards type that allows a person to become not who they are told they are, but rather who they want to be.

Now time to make a 5 signs you're actually an ISFP video.

Recently discovered that I'm an ISFP, I first typed as an INTP and had always considered myself to be an intuitive thinker, but we all think we are better at our lower functions than we are. Planning and organizing have always been my weak spot and I need a sense of urgency to get into get stuff done mode. I also recently jumped into the socionics descriptions and realized that ISFP fits me 100%. I thought for a long time that I was ISTJ or ISTP. But I discovered there are traits with these 2 that didn't fit either. ISFP's in the MBTI community stereotype ISFP's as weak and crying all the time. And that's not true, though if something really moves me in an emotional way that I can relate to, I can easily shed tears about it, but I don't like to cry in the presence of others so I wait and feel my feelings later.

OMG!! I am an ISFP? wow. And I thought I were INFJ for a year, INTJ for 3 months, ENTP for 2 months and INTP for 2 months! Maybe now I can stay with ISFP for the rest of my life! Thank you CPT! I am sure happy now! 🥰
And sorry for not watching the video before commenting but yes I do have idols and fictional characters I think about when making decisions!
This was very informative yeah! The longer videos can be watched but atleast I lose my patience and concentration losing your point in the longer videos. Shorter ones are easier to concentrate on 🤓

Your timing is impeccable, Harry! I was literally just watching videos on INFJ vs. ISFP when your video showed up! ❤

I would totally love a "differences between ISFP and ESFP" video

After watching this video, I'm 100% sure I'm a ISFP. I'm an actress and I truly love it. I love play pretend and acting as I'm someone else, ever since I was a child. I'm also a writer and I picture my characters as archetypes, pieces/shades of myself and my own mind. And sometimes I go for them seeking advice because I see them as a product of my own Just like having my own tarot. Watching this whole video was like wtf??? How can someone describe me that much? Hahahahah. Also the Te part you talked about not doing things properly without inspiration... fr.

Also, I'm learning recently to do an "excavation of an underlying self" thanks to therapy, because my whole life I was aiming into transformating/becoming a new version of me. I still prefer to do that way, honestly, but I'm giving my therapist a chance. He describes this process of "seeing beyond ego aspirations to find my true self". I must confess that I'm having a hard time and this made me question if I were indeed a Fi dom. But your video made it clear why im struggling and that yes, I'm an ISFP. Thank you so much!

Edit: The bonus one hit me right in the stomach. Ouch

I just did this test and I am an ISFP. In many videos the talk about being artistic and always interacting with others and doing new things. This is finally a video where I notice what it means to be an ISFP and why my life is so hard. I like how you explained sign 3 and sign 4.

You elaborate upon the ISFP’s with such precision, i sincerely adore your intuitive and intricate observations upon the behavioural patterns and transformations. A keen INFJ trait indeed.

Watching Ni users make such observations is like a calm breeze, fairly satisfying.

Great video. Patiently (or not so patiently 😂) waiting for 5 signs you're an ISTP

This is incredibly personal and true on a level you just can’t find well… _most_ anywhere about the ISFP type. I actually have an older brother (ENTP) who often marvels at how similar we are. In some ways we are very similar, but at large we’re opposites. I’ve never seen the comparison between ISFPs and their Ti-Si counterparts, but it’s definitely true that I’ve struggled to swallow that I’m Se over Si and a Fi>Ti in the past.

The best analyse of ISFP personality type ever.
Thank you Harry!

Also, please add subtitle to all of your videos.

ISFP is my absolute favorite type: They are some of the the best in giving Se sensory pleasures (better than Se doms), the type i imagine living outside in the wild in balance with mother nature; these are the people who can grow a tropical jungle around their backyard; they are the obersvers of wild life, tracking down and following animal species to take photographs of them, with an extremely good awareness of their description in fine detail, the awareness what an Si dom lacks, for comparison. The type of construction/repair workers who work slow, have a (seemingly) long lunch break and tell stories during it, then finish off in time, took care of everything, leave an excellent work behind. Likely they have excellent humor also, much better than STPs, for another comparison. These were real life examples!
I get comfortable around them, feel calm, and at ease. Not a rare type, maybe i see a bit more females of them, just maybe.

Was hopping between INFP, INTJ, ISTJ, and even INTP for a while before finally deciding to watch this video.

Out of all of them, this one fitted me the most, and honestly, I usually don’t expect descriptions to relate to me at all, but boy did this one do the exact opposite…

I was literally about to contact you asking if you could make a 5 signs for not being an ISFP video and I saw a notification about this vid😅 I thought I’m an ENTP but according to your theory I could be IXFP or IXTJ too! I’ll see how it goes!😁

Great video, special thanks to make these "You Are NOT an XXXX if ..." type of videos,
I think many times they are even more useful then the "You Are an XXXX if ..." type of videos,
because the "NOT" videos help to notice some biases that are hard to notice especially for the certain types who are most likely to mistype themselves because falling into a Barnum effect when seeing a "You Are an XXXX if ..." type of video.

(PS. My 2nd slot Precision-Se approves your beard :))

I kept typing as INTJ, and it fitted, function by function, but something still felt very off.

This is it. Everything finally makes sense. Thank you.

Oh Harry thank you so much!! I was fairly sure of my IxFP typing in CPT, but wasn't sure if it's FiSiNeTe or FiNiSeTe. I found some reasons why I could be both (such as, my supposed Si is not extremely precise, and my supposed Ne is not extremely broad) . But this video clarified that it is more likely I am an INFP, FiSi. Although I still relate to ISFP in some aspects by these points FiSi should dominate for me!

Your mention of Ti-Si dipping really inspired me too (although it would be Ti-Ni for INFP) - because I find myself doing that dipping A LOT!!!! If there's a Ti subtype of INFP, I AM THAT SUBTYPE. I still doubt my INFP typing in regular mbti as classic "Ti demon" doesn't fit me, but neither does Fi demon. CPT kinda solves that dilemma. I guess I wanna say thank you for creating CPT and making these videos!!!❤🎉

Wow, as a (likely) INTJ, I felt deeply what you had to say about a level of self acceptance being necessary for Fi-Ni (and Ni-Fi I assume). Its something Ive been discovering and trying to reach for a long long time now, long before I got into typology. More specifically, it is the balance between idealism and acceptance that really struck a chord.

To me Ive always felt like I have to choose one. I have to “let go and surrender” or keep playing this idealistic game. Its never come across to me as a possibility to achieve a balance between the two mindsets. It feels like if I do attempt it, the Ni idealism completely takes over immediately, like a gigantic magnet you cannot move a single step closer to. And I’ve always theorised that thats probably due to the Ni in the dominant position, and that, with Se and Ni in the middle, such a balance is what ISFPs achieve effortlessly. Really got me thinking. Thanks again Harry.

It is VERY easy to mistype. A lot of people are roaming around with labels that aren't for them. Maybe this comment could help someone...
I (an ISFP) often mis-typed as an ENFP when I was younger.
(Culprit = The 16personalities test. That thing can be highly inaccurate and only shows how you perceive yourself or who like to believe you are. Also, if you take it when you hate yourself, or are trying to change something about you, or are struggling with a mental health issue- it will most probably be inaccurate. For me, it was struggle for acceptance and people pleasing that ruined the test.)
The ISFP-ENFP mistype....
No one really talks about this possibility... Maybe because it takes two- misunderstanding yourself as an Intuitive* AND an Extrovert.*

Now that I look back at it-

• It was probably because I was a teen and wanted to be different and quirky lol, and was sometimes attracted to unusual stuff, which I took on as my identity. I was pretty obsessed with having a strong sense of independence and self. Turns out it was just Fi.)

• I thought I was extroverted... BUT only with my close friends lol.
(Later realised how shy I am when meeting strangers that I literally stutter and my brain goes blank, and I don't go to parties when someone I know isn't coming with me. And extroverts were thought to be cooler.)

• Thought my love for writing stems from Ne when it was actually Se.
(Later realised my love for sensual experiences like late night walks with headphones on, my giant perfume and scented candle collection, long showers, obsession with soft asthetics and random little concerts cannot be neglected.)

• Thought I was intuitive because I took deep dives into abstract stuff (It was because of Ni, not Ne. Later realised that having to exploring too many tangents and possibilities instead of just the one in front of me, makes my head hurt. And I use Fi* first anyway because when I write, it's only when I've felt something first.)

Also, I met an actual ENFP or ESFP for the first time... And their energy sucked the life out of me. My calm personal space was VISIBLY hurt because I wasn't setting up healthy boundries with her. She was just... So loud and always up to something. It drained me. So I do like ENFPs, but from a distance... And certainly am NOT one :)

Yeah, first of all, referring to the Ti automatically is something that I often struggle with and I haven't realise that before my mid twenties, all the while thinking that I'm super emotionally aware of myself.
Second of all, maybe it's not appropriate, but I wanted to say that I get the impression that you're getting more confident in yourself as years pass by and your development as an individual is documented by your vidoes. Well, that's attractive...*cough*, I meant active* change.
Who wrote that? Those hacking attacks are too easy to make these days!
Oh, and I hope you're not overworking yourself, even though your content is highly appreciated, we remember about your study!
Take care, Harry.♡
