Sometimes I watch Akis' videos not because I'm interested in what he's making but just to hear him speak. :D

I belive Greek food to be very under represented over seas. I have spent much time in Halkidiki and Kekyra and I always manage to get a recipe from a Greek granny when I'm there. I must say I make a very tasty soffrito ❤I'm going to make this tonight akis, thank you for the simple and amazing Halva. Love from bonnie Scotland ❤

My colleague told me that Greece reminded her a lot of India. I now believe her with your recipe which is the same one we have for semolina halva. I am going to make a trip to Greece at the earliest possible!!!

Western Armenians make Halva too! We make it with roasted flour, butter, sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Yum. I need to make this today. Thanks Akis! Love your Greek recipes!

Just made it. It is delicious. I've never tasted anything like this in my life.Greek sweets are so special and amazing. The Greek yogurt, the orange zest and the mint give an extra something to this delightful dessert. Ευχαριστώ :)

There's an old recipe similar to halva from the Byzantine empire called moustalevria. The main ingredients would be semolina and grape must ( the unfermented grape juice from the first press for wine).

Yumm. As a Turk I also make this. It's also nice with vanilla ice cream when the helva is warm.

Hi Akis, I'm Iranian and we make Halva too. We make it with flour and we add saferan and a little rosewater, they make it smell lovely and the colour is very shiny and gold. So if you add some saferan to hot water (about 3 tb spoon water) and leave it for 10 minutes then add it to hava in the last 10 or 5 minutes before serving then add some cinnamon for garnish,

this is what we call Sooji Halva in India, and normally we add milk instead of water and ghee or unsalted butter as well with all kinds of Nuts and Cardamom. I ts so interesting that Greek and Indians have HALVA/HALWA. cheers..

Omg! We have a similar recipe for semolina halwa in Pakistan too. Except we use ghee instead of oil in all our halwas :D Ghee, semolina, cardamom, soaked and peeled almonds, sugar, water.
I'm so glad to have found your channel. Never thought Greek food could be similar to Pakistani food! amazing!
I'll definitely try orange peel next time :D *so excited*

I really like this recipe, Halva is also common in Iran and Russia so it reminds me of home. Thanks so much!! 🇮🇷🇬🇷🇷🇺
