Hi Akis. I like all your recipes. We make similar halwa in India with ghee, sugar and semolina and also we add saffron. We garnish halwa with ghee roasted cashew nuts and raisins. We call it Suji ka Halwa or sheera and in South India we call it Kesari.

We make this same thing in south India.. with ghee.. it's called 'kesari bath'. We also add food colouring.. (saffron in milk actually)

Hello Aki, is this also what we call in our home χαλβάς πολητικος ?
I also am Greek and borne in Australia.
Last year in my visit to Greece, I went to a cake shop in Psyri ( Nancy )and devoured two entire pieces of this magnificent sweet. I tried to make it here in Melbourne but not from your recipe and it wasn’t as good. Tonight I shall have another go and I’ll let you know. God forbid if it’s as good, because how does one stop eating this! Thank you Aki, for this and all the other great recipes you share with us.
