Akis, thanks for the way to make the dulce de leche. I have a great kitchen tip for you. For this dulce de leche or anything canned that is really thick or creamy as also tomato paste is. Do not open the pull tab; instead turn the can upside down and use a can opener to open completely the bottom of the can then invert the can and pop the ring tab and original top off, but leave the top on the contents. this lid will act as a spatula to move the contents out of the can. All the contents will slide out completely and leave the can completely clean inside. Give it a try!!!

You better keep an eye on the water level ALL THE TIME. Otherwise, the can may explode and the consequences could be VERY serious (burnings and cuts from the pieces of the can). Be careful!

The other option is to boil the can inside a pressure pot, it takes about 20 minutes... But that's still not the correct way of doing dulce de leche, since the traditional recipe has a little bit of vanilla, and sometimes cinnamon, and it takes about 6 hours

Even easier is to make this in pressure cooker. Takes about 20-40 minutes, depends on how dark you want it.

I make my dulce de leche in a roasting pan. I submerge the can(s) in boiling water. I cover the roasting pan with its lid. I put it in a 425 degrees Celcius oven for an hour and a half. I top it off with more water if needed. I let the can cool completely before opening it.

I'm from Argentina, and that is not dulce de leche, is not even close.
