There are many reasons why you would want to take apple cider vinegar before bed. In this video, we're going to focus on what taking apple cider vinegar before bed can do for your blood sugars.

Acetic acid is the main acid in apple cider vinegar, and it's very anti-glycemic. This means it may help reduce your blood sugars after a meal. Acetic acid may also help reduce your blood sugars in the morning.

Normally, your blood sugars should be low in the morning. There is something called the dawn phenomenon or down effect, where your blood sugars are higher in the morning. This is because the high blood sugar isn't coming from your diet. It's coming from your liver.

Your liver is making extra glucose from protein, fat, and ketones. This is called gluconeogenesis. This could be caused by a problem with the blood sugars like insulin resistance, prediabetes, or diabetes.

How apple cider vinegar (acetic acid) can potentially help lower your blood sugars:
• It blocks enzymes that break down starches
• It reduces the liver's production of gluconeogenesis
• It can make insulin more sensitive (may help improve insulin resistance, hyperglycemic, and hypoglycemia)

I'm 71 and started IMF in March of this year. When I started I was pre-diabetic, my waist was 44", I weighed 244 pounds and could barely walk up a flight of stairs without being completely winded. Now I eat 2 KETO meals a day; one at 1:30pm and one at 5:30pm. I have my ACV drink when I get up before I have my coffee and I have another AVC drink at 8 or 9pm. As of today 7/31/2021 I've lost 40 pounds, 5" inches off my waist, my blood sugar is near normal, and I can walk up 5 flights of stairs without feeling winded. I owe it all to Dr Berg and Dr Jason Fung.

I started taking ACV three days ago as you suggested. The most miraculous event occurred. I had a painful coccyx when sitting or laying down. On the 2nd day it went away. I’m so relieved. I put two tablespoons in water and drink it. I also dropped 3.3 lbs in such a short time.

I find that taking ACV before bed also eliminates sugar cravings the next day.

I have had peripheral neuropathy for 12 years. I suffered Much discomfort in feet including burning and a weird uncomfortable feeling at night. Near end of February 2023 I started drinking 1 tbsp of ACV in 8 Oz water. The next night the very uncomfortable feeling in my feet disappeared. And I was able to stop taking my usual dose of 1200 mg of alpha lipoic acid caps at bedtime. 18 days later my feet are still doing great. No more nerve pain/burning in feet. So, my foot pain discomfort is now gone bc of ACV.

Hey Dr. Berg. A friend had introduced me to your videos and the intermittent fasting has helped me so much. I was 267 pounds and now I'm at 197 pounds. I'm still working on getting down but I feel good. I also had went to the doctor for a check up and usually my blood pressure is usually high, but not this time, it it was 122/88 and the doctor was also surprised with my weight as well. Thank you Dr. Berg.

I fell off the wagon last night and ate a bowl of ice cream. Today, I feel like trash. I really haven't missed the blood sugar spikes since I've been on keto and can't wait to feel better. Now, every time I see an overweight person, the first thing I think of is "liver problems" Thank you for putting this critical information out there for us all. Yes, Dr. Berg I am benefiting immensely from all your advice. January 31 of 2021 is when I decided to lose weight. I’ve used intermittent fasting as well as cut out fast food and sweets. My goal is to go back to wearing a size 4. I’m now at a size 6. I was a size 14 in the beginning of the year.

My husband has been a diabetic for 16 years and he used to wake up in the middle of the night with low blood sugar and he would then have to eat something and also feeling very sick ever since weve been using apple cider vinegar (thanks to you) hes been sleeping well all night he could even lower the amount of his insulin injection thank you so much

You and your work has changed my lifestyle dramatically. I am on the path to balance and healing. My liver is not swollen and in in pain anymore. I am losing weight; my pants will fall straight off. I have removed 6 medications (out of 12) without adverse reaction. I feel and look better. I get compliments. In a matter of months I will be down to 180 pounds. I will have a closet full of aloha shirts that are way too big, but that's OK. They are male moo moos anyway.

Been a diabetic for about 8 years, I'm on a shot, metformin and glimiperide. I started fasting Thursday and Friday. Did it today for 16 hours. Just doing that I feel better. I stopped taking my insulin shot and today my sugar was around 160. I know I have a ton of work to do and watching your videos and reading comments have inspired me to pick back up the keto lifestyle.

I skip my dinner. I do OMAD. That's why I take apple cider vinegar 30 mins before I break my 20-22 hour fast. And when I feel hungry, I drink ACV too. My hunger pangs just go away and I feel full after drinking. It stops me from snacking..

I’m doing this program for one week, trying to get my hormones balanced. I’ve noticed a better feeling, one I cannot describe. Cutting out all the junk and reading labels. I’m hooked on his videos and want more knowledge bc the changes I’ve made made be feel so well.

Thanks DR Berg: I have been on this program for .6 year. Started at 186 lbs. now 150. My athletic weight was 136-145. I intend to get there and stay there. I am 71 yrs old. I have bad IR. I stopped alcohol, cigarettes, and cocaine 32 years ago. But I switched to sugar, stress, and coffee during my career years. Today I am fasting 60 hrs per week, three personalized pilates classes per week, and low carb keto/carnivore diet. Eating window is 4 hours each day that I am eating. Challenge has been living in Costa Rica where I find it hard to get organic beef, fish, pork. I do find pasture rairsed poltry at the farmers market along with many other healthy choices. I will tell you that I am not perfect and do still "struggle" with cakes, pastries, and sweet breads. but I will persist until this is managed. The anti-aging benefits of all this has been miraculous!!!!. No more arthritus, no more stiffness, I am flexible, strong. my brain is vivid and exciting. I have watched and re-watched your teachings and rely on them. BTW, I am retired and living alone with no distractions. I use all my time to live better and engage myself for the best that life has for me. thank you

started with ACV about a month ago, 1 TBSP a day, recently upped to 2 TBSP a day. I can tell it's working.
