In this meditation, you will focus on the root chakra with a bija mantra. A bija mantra is a single-syllable word that is either listened to or toned by the meditator to cultivate health, vitality, and balance. When you use your own voice for the toning, the effect on your chakras and body is amplified. In addition to the cleansing, the vibration that is created deep within the body is very calming.
In Sanskrit, “bija” translates to “seed.” When you practice meditation using bija mantras, you are activating the seeds of your highest potential to bring mental, emotional, physical and spiritual balance. The bija mantra is one tool you can use in a toolbox of many to support your highest good.

MY EQUIPMENT:
The good thing with a bolster is that it is so versatile. You can straddle it, or sit cross legged with your bottom on top and your legs folding down (this greatly reduces the fold around your pelvis when in a seated position!). In a lying meditation you can put the bolster under your knees, or in a relaxation meditation you can lie length ways across the bolster allowing your shoulders to drop back.
I really enjoy using a bolster, and it is very handy if you are meditating often, however, a folded blanket or sitting on a chair will always suffice too.
