Thank you, this is one of the clearest explanations I've seen to help figure out what I'm missing. Especially thank you for wearing a shirt and then showing us what your shoulder blades are doing on your back.

This video is brilliant, I watched hundreds of videos on fitness etc and this one is one of the best. Thank you for your work 🙏🏻

Excellent explanation, thank-you. I guess where I've gone wrong before, and ended up with excruciating shoulder pain, was in tucking the elbows in close to the sides. But so so many practitioners on here tell you to do that. I would really like to incorporate push-ups into my routine, but there's no way I'm risking another injury. Might start again on the wall first, maybe.

I really appreciate this super thorough explanation! A couple of months ago I was trying to do pushups (after the wall, I tried kneeling pushups) and found out my arms were flared too wide. So I tried to tuck my arms in and I felt some weird crackling in my shoulder and things felt weird and kinda misaligned, cue lots of unpleasant pain the next day. I figured it was an impingement and after some weeks the pain is mostly gone.

I'm a very heavy set person (over 300 pounds) and I've been trying really hard to get into working out and calisthenics this year. It was really discouraging to get this injury because I know my weight and overall level of weakness was a significant contributor to that injury.

It hasn't stopped me from getting back into the swing of things again though! I've decided to use resistance band exercises, and focus on the muscles around my shoulders so I can hopefully avoid this in the future. Thank you again for your time and this video!

Thank you for this. Currently trying to fix that pain. I think another thing that yoga instructors tell you is the 90⁰ angle of the wrist which is so unnatural for some people. People end up putting too much pressure on the shoulders

Hello doc. i had a problem with my shoulders few days back, i haven't done push up programs in like a year and half i decided to try em out again and the next day i got a really severe pain on my shoulders and it didn't feel like a muscle tear. I Went to a physiotherapist after that because it was really discomforting pain. I was then told i stressed my ligaments due to my weight during my push up exercise. Please I'm so curious to know what this is about because i still feel the pain up till now.

Sometimes I feel a sharp pain in the base of my neck during pushups. I will try your suggestions to see if fixes this also. Thank you!
