Holy smokes I think this is it. I used to do them so well without any pain. I think it's a posture problem as well. Haven't done much the past year and when I tried again I got instant pain.

Pushups are currently killing me! I re-introduced them into my exercise regime, starting at a paltry 15 at a time. I've worked up to 20, stayed there for a while, and then started testing 25. I've had to cut back; I exercise 6 times a week, 3 days on, one day off. But the pushups I will now do only twice a week. I'm Happy with my body posture and position, it's just that those damn shoulder muscles have not been tested for a while. I'm 67, so 20 I guess is not too bad, but I am aiming for 50. I will take around 6 months at this rate, but so be it.

OMG thank you! Some really buff dudes explaining push-ups in other videos couldn’t even help me start to unshrug the shoulders so the arms could bend in towards the body to help relieve the chest and thoracic spine congestion. 🕸🙏🌱✌️

This is actually a novel idea for me. I was taught to retract the scapula during the push-up. I was thinking I am doing them all right, but guess not. On the bench press, it's the opposite then: keep shoulder blades retracted (back and down).

If I do fast moves my collarbones will hurt, after that I can't move my shoulders down and It will hurt a lot. I can't find information about it. Do you know how to fix it? I have these problems for almost a year. PS vid was really helpful for my pushup form.

For the bench press, we keep them retracted and back down for the entire movement ? How about a seated chest fly ? Do we keep our shoulders retracted as well ? Thank you

My Scapular wings are rubbing together when I do a lot of pushups, creating an incredible amount of discomfort. I am scared to do any more pushups.

What about thinking in terms of keeping a neutral scapula and only slightly retracting on the eccentric while allowing only enough shoulder extension to accommodate the retraction? Also on the concentric, what about allowing only enough protraction of scapula to not over stress the AC joint? I am in the midst of AC joint pain and shoulder impingement 6 months after labrum repairs.

when i do pushups i feel completely normal. but when i look at a video of me doing pushups, my right shoulder is retracted the whole time while my left isnt. It looks really weird as if im leaning to my left.

A Question: When we are getting down we contract the shoulder blades, and keep them locked as we start pushing up, and at the top of the movement we separate them, or right at the beginning of the upward movement (when we start to pushing up) do we start to separate the shoulder blades?

I can retract my shoulder blade but to the point of them meeting, it's weird because I have no problem protracting it

I dont have a winged scapula but my scapula wings when i do push ups, push boats (i build yachts for a living) or just using that part of my body. Any thoughts?
