In a lot of states you 100% do need a license and registration to ride one of those since a lot of states consider them motorcycles or mopeds.

Btw if you live in the uk you need to be 16 or over and have a licence, registration, and pay insurance because believe it or not these are actually classed as a moped over here

In the uk they are illegal to ride on the road without it being registered and you also need a license and insurance on them

Also you should not take it on some mountain biking trails. These things are far heavier and harder to stop than a 28 pound mountain bike. You’ll end up going down a hill 30mph into a hairpin turn that’s 3 feet at it’s widest. These just don’t have the maneuverability for certain types of trails.

It’s a nice in between if you want a dirt bike that’s not noisy and you aren’t going to ride it all day just need to do a few errand and ride for 2-3 hours without waking people up this seems like a great way to go with the first bike route and takes less brains to maintain if you don’t enjoy wrenching

It makes more sense to just go for a motorcycle tho, for 3-4k u could get a decent 125 2s

It’s faster than a class one mountain bike. It’s not the same it’s an electric, 125/250 dirtbike.

In California the law is if it doesn't have pedals it is technically a dirt bike

I'd say it's more of a replacement for a motor cycle than a mountain bike. Mountain bikes don't typically go 30 miles an hour and are typically pretty light. And just listen to that thing. Totally a motorcycle.

In California it's a e-moto you need an M1 or M2 class license, and the bike needs to be registered with the DMV and be insured.

Honestly I would say a motorcycle is fair comparison. It seems to have at least as much power as a 100cc trail bike.

1- Sure it is. Not too big and bad, but ...
2- Better check state and local regulations for routes and areas open to ORV.

I love my Sur-Ron! If something were to happen to it I would buy another one right away NO DOUBT! Best money I’ve ever spent, also I’ve had multiple dirt bikes before getting it and I would choose Sur-Ron all day long!

I actually think it might be an awesome replacement for small putting around town motorcycles and scooters. Depending on what you want to do with it of course.
But having a really quiet but peppy light bike that you can get away with taking places you shouldnt take motorcycles? I can see that being super attractive over a scooter or small motorcycle.
