I'd also like to add: the introduction of the two birds is VERY IMPORTANT in their relationship! Some birds may just never get along. So this means that if you get another bird, and they don't get along, you will have to keep the birds in separate cages and end up with a lot of work.

It’s hard to imagine my bird being distant from me
He’s so cuddly and always sticks by me (even a little too much 😅)

He lets me pet him and handle him in ways that no one else in my family can
He always gets excited when I’m around and lets me do crazy things with him

I want to get him a mate because there are times when no one is at home or that I’m too busy to spend much time with him and I want him to be happy
But it’ll hurt seeing him distance from me

I have 2 budgies and I don’t find it hard to take care of them and I have separate cages for them during the day they frolic together and at night they sleep in either chipper or chicos cage they give me unconditional love daily

My parents have had a 4month old budgie for a month we introduced them last weekend both birds are healthy and they fell in love now my parents want to give me the bird because she's now depressed she's healthy and hasbeen with my parents for a month would I still need to quarantine them?

NOTE:
Quarantine isn't enough. Many birds are healthy carriers of contagious deadly diseases like PBFD and that is why you should ALWAYS disease test any new "healthy" bird. You have to test your bird for:
)aspergillosis
)PBFD
)Polyomavirus
)avian Bornavirus
)PDD
)Psittacosis
)Candida

These tests put together may cost over 300$.
Until the results don't come back, your new bird must be quarantined. If it looks ill call a vet immediately.

Seriously people have no idea how important it is to quarantine a new budgie and also to wash hands very thoroughly after handing it... pet store budgies have lots of diseases 😷
