I sold my Rolex to buy a Spring Drive GS, I couldn’t be more pleased. Perfection.

I still find the sweeping action of the Spring Drive the most elegant and beautiful of all.

The smooth sweeping of the seconds hand is the closest thing to the real flow of time ever made. It is fascinating and scary to watch. Life drains away.

You buy Rolex to impress others and you buy GS to impress yourself

As a fifth generation clockmaker (we are still successful making clocks today) I am a huge supporter of innovation and engineering excellence in timekeeping. Those who dismiss such companies / watches as 'not real watchmaking' are equivalent to those who think music should consist of strummed lutes or Gregorian chants.

Only a true watch collector can appreciate the engineering, r&d, perfection seeking brand like a Seiko. The brand really embodies the Japanese spirit...Kaisen...meaning continuous improvement

This explains why it's difficult to find a Seiko in Switzerland

Pro: Nobody recognizes.
Con: Nobody recognizes.

For me as a watch AND tech nerd, the spring drive is the absolute pinnacle of practical watch technology. While other brands try to overcomplicate with useless design or movement features or full gem dials, Seiko pushes the limits of watchmaking beyond all boundaries by using best of both worlds. Yes it's Seiko. It's like the Godzilla Nissan kicking established supercars's asses on a budget... MY CHOICE

Having owned, Rolex, Omega, Tudor I can say hands down the Grand Seiko finishing surpasses every single one. The attention to details puts them all the shame.

Yo this guy is the David Attenborough of watches. Love the commentary. Also Grand Seiko is such a nice clean watch. Defo going to get one once I’m earning well!

While Rolex was focused on marketing, Seiko was focused on innovation, engineering and the laws of physics. Let's just say that Seiko wasn't sleeping and their genuine concept of making it better by R&D would bring their admirers to their doorsteps. Seiko definitely had their Mission Statement refined over the years.

A great brand that is finally getting broader and long overdue recognition globally.

switzerland relies so much on marketing and 'prestige.' grand seiko has nearly zero marketing outside japan and thanks to the internet and word of mouth people are catching on to its value.

Lol imagine being so great that the swiss cancel their our own tourneys to avoid being beaten by you, that’s Grand Seiko for you

I recently added an Omega Seamaster 41mm to my collection, but in the next case was the GS line and I was very... tempted. In the end I really had my heart set on a diver so I went with the Omega, but if they'd had that green dial SBGV245 I might have come home with two watches. Until you see a GS close-up you have no idea just how amazing the fit and finish is. It almost doesn't look real. The quartz is simply the best of its kind and the spring drive just glides. World-class.
