Step 1: be so tired that you can literally fall asleep standing up

If you say 'dont think' your mind will ALWAYS think. What you resist will persist- rule of the mind - just relax, and keep allowing thoughts to flow while OBSERVING THEM (without judging them too much)- you'll fall asleep.

If you want to sleep like military guys do, just stay awake for 3 days straight while carrying 80 pounds of gear the whole time. The moment you sit down you’ll sleep like a baby

Controlled breathing is my way to go. I just breath in while counting to 5, hold it while counting to 5, breath out while counting to 5. Takes a few minutes and I am asleep. I learned this as a teenager and it works fine.

Ahh yes I remember falling asleep in under two minutes back in my usmc days. But I also remember being so incredibly exhausted, I could feel each cell in my body throbbing and then I closed my eyes and that was that lol

I had sleeping troubles for 2 years and I don't know when it changed... But I started to feel really tired due to that sleep issue, and I learned to fall asleep in daylight with such a light sleep, I could feel refreshed and still react as soon as I heard the topic change. I could even remember full school lessons. And now I can fall asleep in any lighting, any noise, with any movement. I could sleep within a minute or two wherever I want 🤷‍♀️

Ive been doing this exact thing for years, down to saying "don't think" in my head over and over, without knowing this is a legit technique lol. I just figured out over a lifetime of difficulty falling asleep that this combination of things sometimes helps.Too bad it still doesnt work the majority of the time for me 😅 one of my biggest breakthroughs I've had towards falling asleep that isn't explicitly stated in this video is DONT MOVE. Not even slightly, not even to scratch an itch or reposition. Moving will ruin everything and reset any progress towards falling asleep that you had made. As for how I learned about the other parts of this sleep technique; relaxing muscle groups from head to toe is something we did in Yoga in highschool and then we would "meditate" (half the kids fell asleep) and I found that I usually started to feel sleepy from this too, though I could never fall asleep at school. I learned to take slow deep breaths with large amounts of time between breaths because of waking up many times in the night and observing that this is how my breathing naturally was when sleeping. And finally I learned to repeat "don't think" in my head out of frustration when memories of something embarassing or infuriating from 12 years ago kept popping into my head and spiking my heart rate 😊

I always do the other way around. Deep breaths and then start from your toes and go up. But move up the smallest incriminates of body parts.

This works. I stress when going to sleep but not with this method. There are a few details missing in this video
