WHY SLEEP:
Most adults need around 8 hours of good-quality sleep a night to function properly – but some need more and some less. What matters is that you find out how much sleep you need and then try to achieve it.

MUST-HAVE SOLUTIONS FOR SLEEP MANAGEMENT:

NETI POT SINUS RINSE BOTTLE BY ABRAHAM THE PHARMACIST:

As a general rule, if you wake up tired and spend the day longing for a chance to have a nap, it's likely that you're not getting enough sleep.

A variety of factors can cause poor sleep, including health conditions such as sleep apnoea. But in most cases, it's due to bad sleeping habits.

WHY SLEEP IS SO GOOD FOR US:
Sleep boosts immunity
If you seem to catch every cold and flu that's going around, your bedtime could be to blame. Prolonged lack of sleep can disrupt your immune system, so you're less able to fend off bugs.

Sleep can slim you
Sleeping less may mean you put on weight! Studies have shown that people who sleep less than 7 hours a day tend to gain more weight and have a higher risk of becoming obese than those who get 7 hours of slumber.

Sleep boosts mental wellbeing
Given that a single sleepless night can make you irritable and moody the following day, it's not surprising that chronic sleep debt may lead to long-term mood disorders like depression and anxiety.

When people with anxiety or depression were surveyed to calculate their sleeping habits, it turned out that most of them slept for less than 6 hours a night.

Sleep prevents diabetes
Studies have suggested that people who usually sleep less than 5 hours a night have an increased risk of developing diabetes.

It seems that missing out on deep sleep may lead to type 2 diabetes by changing the way the body processes glucose, which the body uses for energy.

Sleep wards off heart disease
Long-standing sleep deprivation seems to be associated with increased heart rate, an increase in blood pressure and higher levels of certain chemicals linked with inflammation, which may put extra strain on your heart.

HOW TO FALL ASLEEP TIPS:
In this video I have included six of my top tips that everyone should be doing to help us fall asleep better and faster. For more useful tips visit:

WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR:
It's very important that you speak to your doctor about sleep when:
• Changing your sleeping habits hasn't worked.
• You've had trouble sleeping for months.
• Your insomnia is affecting your daily life in a way that makes it hard for you to cope.
• You feel sleepy during the day, or make gasping or choking noises while you sleep – you may have sleep apnoea, which can be serious if not treated.
• If you feel that illness or medication is causing poor sleep. Treating any underlying condition that is causing the problem, if possible, can help to promote sleep. In particular, depression and anxiety are common causes of poor sleep and can often be treated.

It can take me anywhere from 30mins - 4 hours to fall asleep at night. I became more aware of this when I started using sleeping apps to track my sleep and snoring. Hoping these tips will help, thank you for sharing!

I’ve recently stumbled upon something that has worked for me like a charm. I pretend that I’m sleeping, and I have to trick someone that I am asleep. I make up scenarios why I have to trick them, but end up focusing on realistically pretending to be asleep, and voila - next morning!

Thank you :) I've noticed that physical relaxation step by step really helps me. But the main thing it's when I imagine like I'm really slowly falling into the darkness. But this works when I'm relaxed. I'm always struggling with falling asleep when I simply can't stop thinking about everything, and it's very hard stop that sometimes.

The way I do it, is basically the same. I had so many problems with falling asleep to the point where I used melatonine, which helped for a while but I had to up the dosis frequently.
I learned that soldiers, navy seals etc. needed to fall asleep fast and that they used a technique where they first relaxed all the muscles from top to bottom. Then repeated the phrase "My thought are totally empty" like a mantra in their head and the second that they notice that the thoughts wondered off, they'd fall asleep.
First couple of tries, I didn't fall asleep and my mind got busy again. But I hung in there and now I think I mastered the technique to the point where I can fall asleep within a couple of minutes.

My problem is the mental relaxation part, I've once tried repeating "don't think" over and over just for me to wait like an hour and have no results, I don't know what's wrong with me.
