►4 (6-8 oz each) filet mignon (beef tenderloin) steaks (about 1 1/2″ thick)
►1/2 cup Merlot wine (or any dry red, drinkable wine)*
►1 1/2 cups beef broth
►1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
►1 1/4 tsp salt (we use sea salt), divided
►1/2 tsp black pepper, divided

Hello! So I made this last night for our anniversary. (It was the first time in 25 years I cooked on our anniversary, but with no dine in restaurants...) anyway, I used New York steaks as the filets were$20.00/pound. The steaks and the sauce were absolute perfection. My husband wanted me to tell you how much he enjoyed dinner. Happy New Year!

This dish ranks high on my top ten list of best things I ever ate. The gravy is indeed one of the best. My wife has made it several times now including a Christmas Eve dinner we hosted for family. Thank you so much for this recipe. I made this sauce today as a side to my mashed potato and eye fillet steak. It really was a winner.. even my 5yrold loved the sauce (and he hates mushrooms). Will make this again for sure. We didn't add the steak into the sauce to "heat up" again, just used it as a sauce on the side. Perfect. 😘

You are definitely my favourite cook because all the recipes I've tried have been easy and delicious at the same time.. 😘

I made this today for a late breakfast early lunch. Really good. The sauce is now my go to gravy. I think I used a little too much broth because it did not thicken as much as I would have liked but still really good. Try putting the sauce on some garlic toast. 😋
