I love how during their whole relationship Lt. Dan calls him a lot of names....but refuses to call him stupid, and loses it if anyone knows Forrest isn't stupid, he's just a simple, kind man

Love the fact Lieutenant Dan got prosthetics in the end and got a Vietnamese wife to show he wasn't really prejudiced, just loved his legacy of dying in battle

Movie highlighting Hanks helping Lt Dan, but ironically, it was Gary Sinese setting up his Foundation and the Lt Dan Band who are massively helping our veterans tp this day. Well Done Mr. Sinese, Well Done !!

i recently rewatched this movie and had forgotten abt Lieutenant Dan, so it was really cool to see his development and how loyal he was to Forrest. he wasnt the nicest, and he hit rock bottom for awhile, but seeing him stand up for Forrest and seeing him happy with life in the end literally made me so fucking happy.
depression hits hard, esp when smth like that happens and you feel like theres no reason to keep going on, I love how his movie shed light on even if the biggest tragedies happen, they dont define who or what you can overcome
