He doesn't seem to be sad when he's talking to Bubba at his grave. No tears, just geniune happiness, sharing an accomplishment with his best friend. Excellent moment. Forrest here knows he's gonna see Bubba again when his time comes. To Forrest, speaking to Bubba's grave may as well just be like writing a letter ahead, giving him the lowdown on what's happened since he's been gone. There's purity and hope in that. In terms of cinema, my favorite movies have always been some Sci-Fi action stuff. Like Aliens, or Starship Troopers, or Chronicles of Riddick. But this, here, takes me back to the real world in the best way possible.
