I'll tell you EXACTLY what Forrest said in this scene + a bunch of other stuff.

I love that the American flag shirt guy heard every word Forrest said even though the crowd did not. You can see him wiping away a tear after he tells him “you said it all.”

When Jenny and Forrest hug, I like to think that it would be one of the most iconic photos in history. Like that famous end of ww2 kiss

"... and he liked to say the F word, A LOT."

Basically how most of us communicate nowadays

"In Vietnam, your best good friend can get shot. That's a bad thing. Sometimes, when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their momma without any legs. Sometimes, they don't go home at all. That's all I have to say about that."

Word for word.

Always gets me when Forrest and Jenny hug and the crowd erupts cheering for them. This was what it was all about. Bringing our boys home, to where their lives mattered.

I love that Jenny jumps into the water to get to him easier I love the way Forrest barrels through the crowd and the way Jenny leaps into his arms
But my favorite thing is all these damn hippies don't have a fucking clue what's going on but cheer when they embrace anyway

“Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.”

according to Tom Hanks, anyway!

This scene always gets me cuz she didn't know if Forrest did live through the Vietnam War and her realizing it was him at the rally and them embracing was what people needed to see. A happy moment in a very dark period of history

Not gonna lie... There are two parts in this film that always make me cry-this scene and the one where Forest is speaking at Jenny's grave and he's crying. That's real love. And it's rare to find that. We should all be so lucky.

My favorite line of this whole movie.
“THE WAR IN VIET- FUCKING- NAMMMM!”
Always beautiful.

Who's here after seeing The Trial of the Chicago 7?

Jenny did love Forrest unconditionally. She was messed up due to childhood abuse/trauma. She removed herself from Forrest because she thought she wasnt good enough for him and didnt want him to deal with her baggage. As messed up as she was, removing herself (her baggage) from him was an act of love.

Easily one of the funniest, most touching, and joyful scenes in cinema. I love it.

Some context/explanations for this emotionally powerful scene... *:)*

1. (0:40) *_"And he liked to say the F-word. A lot."_** ~* The man _'wearing an American Flag for a shirt'_ is supposed to be *Abbot* "Abbie" *Hoffman, * an American political and social activist who co-founded the Youth International Party ("Yippies") and was a member of the Chicago Seven. Hoffman was also a leading proponent of the Flower Power movement.

2. (2:04) *_"There was only one thing I could say about the war in Vietnam..."_** ~* According to Tom Hanks (& later backed/confirmed by the film's writers), Gump's semi-silenced words were...

*_"Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. And that’s all I have to say about that."_*

3. (3:07) *_"Forrrresst! Forrest!"_** ~* No matter how many times I see that part, it makes me misty-eyed and sniffly, it is so well delivered. *;_)*

Thanks for uploading this, *Legendary Movie Scenes.* :)

If you're curious who that man in the flag shirt is, please watch The Trial of The Chicago Seven. Yeah, he said the F word a lot, but damn, he was an exceptional man, and that film is amazing.

You can call Forrest an idiot all you want but don’t forget that he passed his SNCO cadre and became a sergeant

Forrest Gump is wearing the MOST PRESTIGIOUS MEDAL decoration that a soldier can receive at an ANTI WAR demonstration.

Let that sink
