I've seen some narc calm down when they're drunk. They're more tolerable

That makes a lot of sense…all the narcs I know are drinkers…interesting! I never connected the two.

Substances, including alcohol, are "character amplifiers." Think Bose speakers. They don't change the music. They make it louder. And by the way, money is also a character amplifier. In other words, substances and money make the character louder, they don't change it. Remember this the next time someone says to you, "He didn't mean it. He was drunk." Oh yes he did!

My partner when sober is kind, loving, caring... when drunk (which is every night) is a very bad malignant narcissist. I don't know why.

Drunken words sober thoughts, my Narc ex and alcohol were lethal mix and if I suggested that she shouldn’t drink I’d get don’t you tell me what I should or shouldn’t do.
