When he says to Jenny "I know I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is." That absolutely broke me.
That and when at the end he asks Jenny if his kid is (and he hesitates) "smart"? And when he's losing his mom. That movie makes me cry.

Forrest Gump is a genius movie. One moment you are laughing bcoz he went for Bubba but got another one of his mates out and then few minutes later he gets everyone out except Bubba and you're left stunned and your eyes are full.

I 100% forgot that Forrest was a highly decorated Sergeant in the movie.

For another fun fact... they actually cut a fair bit out of the Forrest Gump book for the movie. And disregarded a lot of the author's input. As you can tell the movie did quite well- the books... well, its probably enough to know that there was a sequel and you haven't heard of it. In that sequel it opens up on Forrest saying "Don't never let nobody make a movie of your life story"

Forrest was actually a very brilliant man even in his disability

Honestly, it makes sense considering everything Gump went through. Lt. Dan lost his legs. Buba lost his life. You can tell how much it meant to him because of how much he was willing to do for them and how he remembered them regardless of where he went in life.
Side note, why the hell does Gump auto-correct to Gumption

I can definitely believe that Forrest would say that. It literally captures what he saw on the battlefield. His commanding officer lost his legs, and his buddy lost his life.

And I can definitely believe the US government would not have appreciated that sentiment during at the time.

Both my grandparents served in Vietnam. I am eternally grateful that both of them came back with no serious injuries

one of the best contemporary books ever written and one of the best movies I've ever seen. Forrest Gump takes us through a tumultuous time in our history through the eyes of an innocent man who gets caught up in so many memorable moments to become a hero without even trying.

Fun Fact: The reason Jenny leave Forrest is because she believe she is taking advantage of him like her father did her when she was a kid (her father sexually abused her), and believe she doesn't worth being love because she had no self-worth as a result of her childhood, Jenny only return to him when she was dying because he is the only person in her life who she trusted with her child.

Another thing people often ask is why did Jenny hide her kids, the answer is there is no proof that she did, because initially there is no way for her to tell him about his kid, as he is quite literally all over the country and god knows where, and normal people will have no way to track him down, let alone someone in poverty, presumably she was only able to do so because he now have a permanent address.

I've always wondered what Forrest had to say during the speech when the mic went out. Actually glad to hear this.

Forrest Gump was non-political.He just told it like it really was. Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

Wow I've been waiting for 30 years to find out what he said. Thank you!

It genuinely makes me sad that the crowd didn’t get to hear him. I know it’s a film, but something about the simplicity of that speech is so moving.
