Jenny used to pray for God to make her into a bird so she could fly far, far away from her abusive childhood. The last thing you see as he leaves her grave is a flock of birds flying far, far away.

The saddest most ironic thing about this scene is Jenny told Forrest he didn't know what love is, and in the end he showed that he knew what love was more than she ever did.

“I wish I could have been there.”
‘You were.’

Has to be the most beautifully poetic line in the movie. It showed how much Jenny meant to him that he kept her in his thoughts the entire time.

Cruelty of life. He wanted Jenny his whole life and only got her at the end of hers.

This movie make you realize how life is so short. Forest shows how to live your life to fullest.

One movie that everyone should see at least once.

I like the way Forrest honored his promise to his son not to read the letter. A small moment in the film that shows the respect he has for other people's feelings.

This scene always makes me tear up. Forrest speaking to Jenny’s grave and that one line, “he’s so smart, Jenny” just gets me

I always thought this movie showed no matter what Forrest went through, he was lovely to people. He never judged based on looks. He has the biggest heart in all of cinema

"You were"

Imagine being loved that much by someone.

"Momma always said dying was a part of life.
I sure wish it wasn't" this quote perfectly sums up his character

At the time of this writing, and 73 years of life behind me, I've learned that standing at the foot of a grave of a, wife or child is one of the hardest and loneliest things you'll ever have to do. Of which I've had to do both.

Forrest is one of the most strongest characters I've seen in any movie.
He lost his best friend, Bubba.
His mother right after.
Now, Jenny, the love of his life, recently married, and has a child that they thought they would raise together and this time stay together till the day they die.
He may slow, but he has a strength and will that a lot of people just do not have during his time.

That moment at 01:32 where Jenny tells Forrest: "I love you."

That is a HUGE step for her.

Jenny learned as a child not to trust. That is the lesson that her father taught her through his abuse of her. She learned that she was not worthy of respect and love. To close herself off. Not to let anyone in. To run away when people came too close..

But now she has healed enough that she can trust. Healed enough to feel worthy to love and to be loved. Enough to say "I love you" and really mean it, without fear.

I love how he broke her childhood house. Best thing to do...

"Mama always said 'dying was a part of life.' I sure wish it wasn't." Me too, Forrest. Me too. 😢
