What scott didnt didn't tell you, is you want to be focused on activating your core to do the raise, not your legs, it is an ab workout after all.

I do them every other day except with straight legs out. It's 10X the workout.

I'd recommend going past 90 degrees that more of a hip flexor emphasis although you are engaging your abs.

Scott, you are supposed to lift your legs up to your chest. This way you are training your hips.

these are called 1/2 hanging left lifts.

proper leg lifts should be performed hanging from stall bars and should end with touching your toes to the bar.
