In the Burgos trial, it was 5 years before his day in court. I say never waive your right to a speedy trial, especially if you’re innocent.

As a retired trial attorney I think it’s awesome that you go into such detail with your viewers/subscribers regarding ALL of the work and strategy happening BEFORE trial. Most people have heard of “discovery, ” but I don’t think most followers of trials understand the vast amount of work required before, during trial (before court, at breaks, after court, and Sat-Sun), and even after the case has gone to the jury. Eighteen-hour days leading up to and including trial are the norm not the exception for the trial attorneys. Plus, depending upon the case, behind the scenes myriad staff attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries are working 10+ hour days.
Excellent work and analysis, Peter. Thank you for giving me the nitty-gritty details I miss knowing.
BTW, did Judge Judge specifically address motions in limine to exclude/address evidence other than DNA and alibi?

It seems the Defense & State are playing Chess, but the clock is dwindling fast! I'm neutral until I hear & see the evidence & arguments from both sides.l

In civil proceedings I have found discovery to be a game… I received discovery I was asking for for 2 1/2 years the evening before arbitration. I settled but if I had moved into arbitration my lawyer would have fought and won on that issue. So much $ spent trying to get compliance.
