I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything.

I wouldn’t say a narcissist shows you who they CAN be in the beginning, they show you who you WANT them to be. They will pretend to be everything you ever wanted and more, which is a person they could never be.

From experience I’ve learned to leave a relationship that doesn’t feel healthy. It doesn’t matter how good the sex is, how deep the conversations were, how generous or how good the experience once was. Being in a toxic relationship is a reflection of who you “think” you are at the time and what we’ll settle for. By allowing this behavior you are letting the entire universe know that you are open to mediocrity. Start writing down what you want for yourself in every aspect in your life. Don’t waste anymore time on bullshit. Take full accountability for your happiness. It’s not anyone else’s fault if you’re in an unhealthy relationship. Are you in one now? What are you waiting for? Get the fuck out!

I don’t know if I’m more angry at my abuser or myself. I wasted 32 yrs of my life on someone that’s not capable of truly loving anyone else. I’m an empath & nurturing by nature. My ways enabled his his abuse. Damn it hurts.
