I'm Italian and i can assure you i've never seen any pizzeria do this to fix a hole. They just pinch the dough and call it a day (and also avoid putting basil under your pizza which not everyone likes)

I just pinch it together while putting a bit of flour underneath it so I can tap tap a bit with my fingers to make it even. The flour helps so it does not get stuck to the desk. This usually works fine. But if it is too much I simply reball it and spread again.

Just pinch the hole shut and use the cheese on top to seal it. I know many people who don't like basil, this would send em spiraling.

Beautiful and natural fix. I love basil, and I never thought about doing this. Sometimes a hole happens, mostly because I love a lot of sauce. I've been making your dough recipe for years now, and it's my favorite pizza recipe. LOVE IT!!! <3

If you see a hole... you should see it before you put the dauce on the pizza. Then you cqm pinch the dough closed. Over lap it if you have to
