In 2019, I was obese, pre-diabetic, my joints hurt, my feet hurt, and I had no energy. Then I came across a video that asked, "Why do we eat 3 meals a day?", it may have been one of your videos. The video introduced me to Intermittent Fasting. Given that I felt so bad, I figured I should try it. I chose a 20/4 Fasting/Meal schedule, which was a challenge at first, but after just 3 days I realized it was working. After 2 weeks I felt a whole lot better I had more energy and much of the pain was gone. In addition, I was losing weight. It took me over a year to return to normal weight and restore my health. My Doctor was shocked when she saw me.

My Great Uncle lived to 97 years old. His advice is to have a Big Breakfast, work hard followed by a small lunch and No Dinner! No snacking!

When I was Young I Always skipped breakfast before school...until People convinced me its unhealthy. 🙃sometimes you simply have to usw your instincts and dont listen to people. Started fasting again 6 years ago and I feel SO mich better.

My exercise routine is heavyhanding, tai chi, and walking my dogs. At 66 yrs old, I am 5'6" and weigh about 135 lbs. I eat when I'm hungry. If I started fasting and eating fewer meals, I'd wind up a skeleton.

The problem I find with piling too much food into a short time is food combining issues. Fruit seems best left alone, for me. 12 Hour fast is easy for me. 18 a challenge but I eat whole plant based so that helps. Keto seems to work for a lot of people too, so kudos.

If intermittent fasting, the easiest meal to skip is morning breakfast as you can delay it past midday meaning (if you had your last meal at 9pm the previous evening) you'll have fasted for at least 14 hours my noon.

People who eat breakfast do way better in health studies. Petter Attia wrote a paper explaining why he thinks that skipping breakfast is likely okay and that the reason why breakfast eaters do better is likely due to co-founding factors (e.g., lower smoking rates, more exercise, drinking less). Howver, in this Japan study, they adjusted for several cofounding factors: age, sex, history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus Body mass index, Smoking status . Alcohol status, Education level, Exercise level. Sleep duration, Work - day shift, night shift, or shift work. After adjusting for confounding factors, skipping breakfast significantly increased the risk of mortality from circulatory diseases [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.42] and all causes (HR = 1.43) in men and all causes mortality (HR = 1.34) in women

Yokoyama Y, Onishi K, Hosoda T, Amano H, Otani S, Kurozawa Y, Tamakoshi A. Skipping Breakfast and Risk of Mortality from Cancer, Circulatory Diseases and All Causes: Findings from the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study. Yonago Acta Med. 2016

Erratum in: Yonago Acta Med. 2019 Dec 28;

In addition, in a different 2011 study in Japan, participants who did not have breakfast were four times more at the risk of developing dementia. There was not a lot cofounding variable adjustment in this study though See : Findings from a 6-year follow up(Paper & Abstract September 17th), Japanese Journal of Human Sciences of Health-Social Services, 2011, Volume 18, Issue 1, Pages 102-106, Released on J-STAGE

We all fast every night, then we break the fast {breakfast, called that for a reason}. Talk about divisive, now you can stress out the people who eat three meals a day, and wonder why they leave debated comments, lol. Fasting also lowers blood sugar, which releases stress hormones like cortisol, adrenaline, etc., one of the reasons people wake up in the middles of the night and can't get back to sleep, their blood sugars go down and cortisol goes up. There are better ways to get the benefits of fasting, without fasting.

I have no appetite in the morning so naturally skip breakfast. Whenever I do eat breakfast (for social reasons, when I’m on a trip, etc), it completely throws me off for the rest of the day!

Oh well, it’s what I like, and what is comfortable for me.
Not every meal is big.
Usually only one BIG meal a day, but I generally eat 2-4 meals a day
I’m 60, good, healthy, not dead.

My dad is 87, on a walking tour of Egypt and Israel right NOW…He eats 3 meals a day, snacks, and has 2 martini’s a night.
So there’s that

Most of the time a lot of my friends still think eating 6 times a day is best to stoke your metabolism 😂 I try to be a good influence but it’s useless….I have stubborn friends. When you’re on OMAD like I am, they look at me like im insane 😣 it’s honestly sad though because they’re mostly unhealthy and overweight.

Since doing IF I only need two meals a day. Three meals feels like too much. I don't care if other people want to eat throughout the day. We all do what works for us.

This is so true by fasting I stop myself from overeating and my blood sugar are awesome.. when I eat 3 meals my blood sugars are always elevated no matter what I eat 😮

Dr gains pointed out that it matters more when you stop eating vs how many meals you have. He also thinks the only benefit of IF is caloric restriction.

I lost 60 pounds to join the military and intermittent fasting was the key. I started around the standard 8:16 (eight hours of eating, 16 hours of fasting) and graduslly worked all the way down to 1:23 (aka OMAD).

Even in the military I only eat breakfast and dinner. Lunch I often opt to take a nap in my barracks room or my car depending where I'm at.
