Answering Tom McMurtry of the New IFB Latest Diatribe Against Calvinism Part 4 - Original Sin Part 2

We conclude the topic of Total Depravity as presented by New IFB preacher Tommy McMurtry by demonstrating the inconsistencies of teaching that Adam's guilt is NOT transferred to a child at conception, only the corruption. Though a baby, not knowing between right and wrong, is LEGALLY responsible for Adam's sin (as Federal Head of the race), because of God's revealed character we believe He saves them through the shed blood of Christ. God does not require any work or response of man before acting in the area of salvation, and therefore can regenerate an infant in the womb whether that infant exercises any "natural" faith or not. We show that the Scriptures record instances where infants fell under the same judgment as adults - the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Joshua's conquests - that God, may on occasion, reveal His just wrath against even what we may consider an infinitesimal sin, the corruption inherited from Adam . We also show that by denying this doctrine, the New IFB is not Fundamental in the true sense, as this is a cardinal doctrine. It is theologically outside the realm of biblical Christianity in this area, and is in agreement with Pelagian heretics.

I think Tommy McMurtry's false view of Total Depravity, and his inability to actually understand the doctrine, is because of his faulty view of original sin (as well as his synergistic view of salvation as I noted before). It appears his entire argument against TULIP is based on his misunderstanding of TULIP, as well as his misunderstanding of Scripture, and as well as his low view of God coupled with an overinflated view of man.

The Ninevites weren't innocent, what is he talking about? Jonah was sent with a message of repentance because they were innocent.

That stament makes me wonder what he would say about people who never hear the gospel. They don't get a free pass either.

Even the previous verse explains who the six score thousands are! Jonah 4:9-10 KJV
And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death. [10] Then said the Lord, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:

Out of interest, Why in Jonah did God mention cattle alongside persons?Jonah 4:11 KJV
And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
Is God referring only to babies "innocents" or ALL the people that lived in Nineveh that needed to repent? If all innocents go straight to heaven anyway, why would God be angry with Jonah saying "should not i spare Nineveh"?
