I don't believe Mr. McMurtry thinks before he speaks. If he did he would not have tried to refute your interpretation of Hebrews 9:28, by going up to the verses above it, especially verse 12. Mr. McMurtry insists that verse 28 supports his view that Jesus died for everyone, for every single person. In reading verse 12 he is then saying that Jesus obtained an eternal redemption for every single person. If Mr. McMurtry is right, then we're back to him teaching universalism. I tried to explain this to him -- that if Jesus died for everyone, the either the sins of everyone have been atoned for and everyone is saved; or, Jesus' death was not sufficient to atone for the sins of everyone. As I see it, based on his Arminian logic, these are the only two possibilities. His response was that the argument is both stupid and childish. That was the extent of his well reasoned response to me.
