No, I believe she escaped for real. The cat said he visited the other world sometimes to mess with the Beldam, he never used the door before Coraline. So he would have other ways to disappear.

The cat says “I come and go as I please” meaning that he doesn’t need the door.

I don't think the cat "disappeared", I think maybe he used a portal to the Other World, showing that it still exists and is still accessible. But the face in the garden is interesting. I've seen a theory that it's because the Beldam lived in the real Pink Palace before ending up in the Other World.

Also in the beginning of the film when you see the mover getting paid (before coraline even discovered the little door) you could see the garden looked like her face

I think it's time to watch Coraline again

No, she did escape for real, here is how:
Coraline did NOT know what Wybies grandma looked like, and neither did the doll because it only went where Coraline went. The Beldam uses Coralines memory and the doll to make the characters in the other world. At the end of the movie, we see Wybies grandma. That has to mean she’s out, because the beldam wouldn’t be able to make her.

If that doesn’t convince you:

Everyone has regular eyes, not buttons.

And if not that:

In the other world, wybie dies. At the end, we also see wybie.

Hope this helps! ❤

It’s canon that the Cat has his own doors that even the Beldam doesn’t know about to come and go

Nobody talks about the first time she entered she just fell asleep and magically going back

The cat said he could move between the worlds at will, despite the Beldam's effort to block him, so yes, he can "disappear" from the real world as easily as from the other world. I choose to believe that while Coraline's ordeal with the Beldam would be with her for the rest of her life, she could choose how she would live that life going forward, and the garden looking like the Beldam from above was symbolic of this: The Beldam may have designed the structure of the garden, Coraline and her parents and friends were free to decide what flowers to plant in it.

She enters 4 times, but we only see her leave 3 times. This is because she fell asleep in the other world and woke up in the real world, but why would the other mother take her home? What if she never left the other world and aside from the first scene she’s spent the whole movie in the other world? Meaning that the other mother was two steps ahead of her the entire time, that she let coralline believe she won, but instead she’d lost the moment she crossed over.

Also the fact that Wybie said that the underground area if you fell you would see stars, the other mother in the beginning when she made the coralline doll it went through a door that looked like it had stars too

i don't believe she ever left because in the beginning of the movie, her REAL MOTHER had a crooked nose and once coraline goes to the other world, her moms nose was straight. mind you, in the end her moms nose was straight which makes me believe coraline never left!

In the book right before the final confrontation the cat says “they’ve gone. They aren’t there anymore. The ways in and out of this place. They just went flat.” Which scared the hell outta him.

Coraline was able to escape because she refused to let the other mother take her ‘soul’ where as the ghost children voluntarily gave her their eyes (souls) so to speak as they state themselves so they were unable to escape the other-mothers clutches.

Also Coraline probably could have just tried to melt they key instead of putting it down the well with the broken hand of the other mother which could probably just put itself together furthermore when they dump it in the well it sounds as though it takes a shorter amount of time to reach the bottom then at the beginning.

Lastly if Mr bobinskis jumping mice knew about the door and the dangers it held why didn’t they somehow take the key as they tell him to warn coraline about the little door.

the other mother has the ability to warp the other world, and can alter what coraline sees. so when coraline falls asleep in the other world and supposedly wakes up in her real bedroom, but what if beldam just altered coralines surroundings to make it seem like she’s in the real world? and the odds of a little kid beating a spider monster who can warp reality are almost impossible.

No, I believed that she escaped for real. At the start of the movie it zoomed into the garden and zoomed out and the garden is shaped like the Beldams face.

To me, it's not the cat that screams that she didn't escape, but the fact that Coraline entered 4 times the Otherworld, but left trough the door only 2 times. That's because Coraline actually goes back to the "Real World" twice by just sleeping, and my theory is that Beldam made it look like real world, remember that scene in wich Coraline and her parents go to a clothing mall ? Don't you think the people act... strange ? (Rewatch the moovie if needed, they're REALLY acting weird), A theory says that because Beldam probably didn't go outside Other World, she doesn't kbnow how a proper human interaction works, and as such, people act weird

The reason she could go back while Adler is because the beldam let her. The beldam needs Coraline love and trust before taking her soul. It makes it much easier. The other mother could’ve forcefully done so but she never did she always tried to get Coraline to consent. I wonder why…

Wasn’t it already shaped like the other mother in the start of the movie though…..

I agree but the bedlam’s face is also shown in the garden in the opening of the movie that’s what makes the theory confusing. I genuinely think the bedlam lived in the dewal pink palace before creating her web
