C2 KUP1.3 – Set 1 – Activate COSPAS-SARSAT EPIRB
EQUIPMENT: SAILOR 6000
As the abandon ship preparation was ongoing, the power supply suddenly shut down.
Batteries became drained and the radio installation onboard was no longer operational.
The Master instructed the Officer of the Watch (OOW) to ensure that all the designated crew members should bring their assigned Portable GMDSS equipment to their respective lifeboats, such as the 406 Mhz COSPAS-SARSAT EPIRB, 2-SART’s,3-Portable VHF with 3-Emergency Battery Power Pack.
He further instructed the Officer of the Watch (OOW) to activate the 406 Mhz COSPAS-SARSAT EPIRB when the lifeboat is on the water and moving away in a safe distance.
REMOVE THE LOCKING PIN OF THE COSPAS-SARSAT EPIRB BY CLICKING.
Move the switch to “ON” position (click) to start the distress alert.
