Time to strip the bottom end and access the block and the crank. Based on what the camshaft looked like I don't have high expectations but how bad can it be? Let's see...

Seems like everyone is still asleep. A big day for me today Elin, I'm going for a first start on my Healey 3000 after a complete rebuild.

I really enjoy the fine detail of your videos Elin.

These vids make me want to tear down my perfectly good running engine just for fun

Great video for a super rainy Oregon day. I feel bad for the car owner given the bad camshaft and head. Strange that there was so much copper showing on the bearings, but I have been bitten by shoddy work also. I hope the owner goes for a bit higher compression, though!

Again nice video, Elin! And the thing is: I'm working on a '75 TR6, and the overall engine condition is remarkably similar to the condition of this '76 one: tappets and camshaft are terrible, but measurements of cylinders and crank axle are ok. The head I had sent out for skimming, replacing valves and valve guides etc.

The bearings are Vandervell. Still available, so they may have been replaced.

Fantastic, lets hope nothing bad is found at the machine shop.

I wonder if when the head came off they put tappets in that were two hard for the camshaft?

In the last video there was all sorts of rust staining on the front of the block. I’d assumed the coolant was slowly leaking from the front of the #1 cylinder head gasket?

Nice work - crazy weather for November. I was out in shorts and a tank top yesterday.

Great video. Glad to see the block is good to go.

Cylinder machining is boring. 😏

I know with a mystery like this, anything is possible. Have you checked the fluid level in the 'box? Maybe the engine oil and rad fluid is hiding away in there! Thanks for your videos Elin.

That’s interesting. My 75 spit was similar, head gasket was copper, but aftermarket. Vandervell bearings, stock sizes and my crank was good to go. My bores looked good so I ran the original dished pistons with new rings. I was pretty surprised overall, but i’ll take it!

Maybe heater core leakage, great videos 👍👍

Weird that the camshaft is excessively worn but everything else is fine. I guess it must’ve been oil starved at some point, the lobes are only splash oiled right?

The engine looks great, but you can see carbon deposits between cylinder 2/3 and 4/5? Check the head and block are true?

Same as last time the audio is not good. You need a lapel mic.
