Installing the CV axles and the Heavy duty hubs requires a little bit more attention than what I thought it would. The process is pretty straight forward, but a few measurements and tolerances need to be taken in consideration. So here is how it is done

Another fascinating video Elin. You’re right, a little more work than anticipated, but not beyond the capabilities of most people. It’s obviously a very well engineered solution and worth doing when I get to that part.

I really enjoyed this video. Not too tough for the home mechanic to do but I would be afraid of grinding on the inside of the hub.

This was excellent! I have run into similar situations rebuilding electric motors and various pumps. I have had good luck using a quarter inch dia. rod slotted on the end to accept sanding cloth of various grits. It even works with the back of the cloth as a polishing material. Have used this many times porting and polishing heads on my motorcycles.

Well explained Elin. Thank you for your patience showing how it is done. Great video.

Greetings from Germany! I think you should put some antiseize on the axle splines when intalling them in the hubs. Better for removal in the future.
And tughtening the trailing arm nuts only when the car is under load. Better for the rubber bushes.

That transmission jack is coming in handy.

What the heck! First at this time of night! A very nice Upgrade. Something I’ve been wanting to do on mine. Both my TR6 and 250 have the GP Hubs already. My 70 TR6 PI will get the R200 and the CV Joints!

The notch on the inner hub is so you can change the wheel studs..

When I had that kit installed the rubber rubbed on the trailing arm squeaking on occasion. Don't remember how we fixed it.

Hi Elin,
Another very enjoyable & informative video . One comment, if I was the owner, would have appreciated the trailing arms to have been thoroughly cleaned prior to installation.

Did the G.P. hubs on my 74 tr6 nice and quiet well machined & pretty ...almost a shame they go behind the wheels !

I get the challenge, sounds wrong, but what about a cylinder honing tool? I'd be nervous, but might not be a bad test (sent 30:34 - so maybe you thought of this afterwards

Great idea with the paint while grinding!

Could you use a cylinder honing tool with coarse stones to grind the trailing arm? Might ruin the tool ?

Well done Elin! I think "Goodparts" should be re-named "not bad parts", it would be easy to have those joints machined a little bit smaller. I suppose he is using and adapting stock sizes of joints and boots. It certainly makes for a nice conversion though.

"Don't lick the battery." That never occurred to me. 🤔

Did you send Goodparts the link to this video?

Merry Christmas!

Nice upgrade! Did this car already have the trailing arm stud upgrade (with the patton jig)?
