Hurricane Helene: North Carolina residents recover from storm's fatal floods

More than 130 people have been confirmed dead in the wake of Hurricane Helene, as US President Joe Biden promises support "until the job is done".

My heart goes out to those affected by Helene. I am astounded and shocked by the loss of life. I live in cyclone country myself (Cairns, Australia). We had our wettest in recorded history last December with falls of 2.25m (88 in) and we lost one person. I think the U.S. would do well to look at our disaster management. Our last cat 5 was Yasi with gusts up to 295kph (183mph) and again we lost one person. 130 is unthinkable and extremely sad. I hope that the people effected are treated with kindness and generosity and that the government local, state and federal pull out all stops to get these communities back on their feet as quick as possible and give them the time required to mourn their losses. My sincerest heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones.

Sadly there are many poor People in the Appalachians and they where hit the hardest. I feel very sorry for them :(

Why does it look as if the Scientists have taken the rain clouds from Africa to European Countries. In Southern Africa its sad, really sad! No rain.

Many of the small towns are still with little help. Thousands are in need. Make sure to send donations thru local companies. Remember puerto rico when a giant warehouse full of supplies was found a year after their storm. It was never dispersed. Fema is too big and not gettign to everyone. This is a nice story, but not typical for the whole effected communities.
