This is typical in the Caribbean countries. Everyone goes home for lunch and take a nap.
USA is #1 at mental health disorders

My troble is it takes me a while to get to sleep unless I have perfect settings, so if I set an alarm for 30 mins then I might still be awake when the alarm goes off

I agree with the idea of a nap right after lunch. I try to sleep at least one hour and it seems to feel or make me feel regenerated. It does not hurt, but I also agree that you probably could sleep too much.

This video is my grandfather talking to me from his grave telling me: "Son, screw the American way, embrace your Spanish roots and take a nap, you will live longer and happier"
Is Time for a change !

Growing up in Cuba I always see my Father keeping this Spanish Culture routine, La Siesta ( The Nap ).
He go to work in the morning at 8 AM, comeback Home for 2 Hours, during that he eat lunch, and them go for a Siesta (Nap) for about a hour, after that he wake up, very very energized and 15 minutes before 2 PM he go to work for the second half of his shift until 6 PM.
And let's Not forget the every Cuban have one month Vacation at year with pay, IS THE LAW !!
NO WONDER AMERICA IS SO STRESS UP, and always looking for adversaries and foes to fight !!
So much stress and Negative Vibes in this Country, and why?
Because the brain of every American is under so much pressure to be successful and their way to accomplish that is WORK, WORK AND MORE WORK !
And how they relax?
GETTING DRUNK !! How Pathetic !!

1pm until 3pm is a perfect nap time because at 11am your full attention span is in motion. From 11am until 1pm the bulk of thinking and planning is done and then you rest on the thoughts and your dream is to see it in reality. Like building a retirement vacation hideaway up north on a river far from the towns and villages. Naps keep the older mature people fresh and able to get more done in life just by taking your time and killing the stress in life. Before the stress kills you.

I programed myself through meditation to sleep for 20 minutes or sleep within 20 minutes (so no pressure). Try thinking something inane yet useful like piano chords or spanish words or whatever you're into (and your mind will keep learning through your sleep).
About half an hour after eating you feel sleepy as your body digests food (especially unhealthy food) so that is a great time to sleep as your body does its job.
As soon as you feel flu or sickness starting go have a few hours in bed whilst your immune system focuses on recovery.

A nap is one of life's simple, sustaining pleasures. I typically nap for about an hour and awake without grogginess. So listen to your body and realize the limiting of a nap to 20 or 30 minutes is but a suggestion and should not be taken as a mandate.

A three or four-hour nap instead of breakfast-&-lunch works "best", an actual deep-sleep nap; going to bed after dinner, around 3-5am for another 7-9hrs: this extra sleep is equivalent to time-spent commuting, shopping, preparing, driving-to or awaiting to eat, two meals, attending-therapy, gym, and waiting in lines for food coffee and gas-stations between errands. Don't schedule anything during regular down-time, down-time, isn't "free-time".

One thing that wasn't discussed is that It's not just grogginess that is at issue with longer naps. Longer naps, especially those lasting an hour or more, have been linked with obesity and increased cardiovascular disease risks.
