Getting past personal vendettas, we move on to the actual issue - how much does Tommy McMurtry understand the Calvinistic doctrine of Irresistible Grace? He begins expressing agreement with some of it, that one must experience the work of the Holy Spirit in order to be saved, but does not go into detail as to what the Spirit actually does in bringing a soul to salvation. We show how that the Spirit, moving when, where, and how He wishes, effectually calls the elect, while other may hear and be affected in some fashion by His work, remain in their lost condition. Calvinists believe that the outward call of the gospel may be resisted, but the inward call, which changes the heart, can not. The reason is that when the inward call is received, the eyes are opened to the glory and grace of God, and the beauty of Christ - and one most willing comes to Him.
