Get up from the floor with ease ✅

And climb up and down the stairs too!

By using this ONE exercise ☝🏽

One issue that many people have is they don’t have adequate single leg strength to lift bodyweight up on one leg 🦵🏽 Without this strength, stairs and getting up from the floor can be difficult.

As a physical therapist, this is one of my go to’s when working on single leg strength ✅

This single leg chair squat can be a great way to challenge strength and it can be modified by:

⚠️ increasing the height of the seating surface

⚠️ using your arms

⚠️ bringing your feet closer together

Modify the repetitions as needed- 10-15 is simply a suggestion.

I once was stuck on the floor not able to get up for 11 1/2 hours by myself! When my husband got home he couldn’t get me up we asked another strong neighbor to help, both of them couldn’t lift me up so I finally gave in to calling an ambulance. The two medics got me up using a long scarf looking band. Yay!
I haven’t been on the floor for up to two years. Nearly fell on the floor this morning.
I’m mostly in a wheelchair all day long and on oxygen. I’m looking for exercises I can do in a wheelchair to strengthen me. I’m going to do these exercises as soon as I’m through with this text and I just subscribed to you! Thank You so much for this vital help to me gaining back movement in my life!!! THANKS! That was a great thing to show us.... As we age.. getting up from the floor is a beootch...!! and we think to ourselves...God, I used to just jump up

This is an excellent exercise and it works. I do it 3x/wk and it’s helped make stair climbing easier.

I'm 81 and have pretty good balance, but I do have a problem standing up from a setting position.

I cannot bend down and touch my left foot. I can flex enough to touch my right foot but not the left. Part of that is due to a bulging disc. But that was diagnosed probably 12 years ago. Plus, I have 2 artificial hips. What should I do to help limber up my left side. I need to be able to clip toenails on my left side and not have to depend on our senior center's "toenail lady". Thank you...I love how you help us seniors!!❤

I thank you So So much for all the amazing exercises and ideas as I recently have such pain in my hips walking, sleeping, and just trying to exercise. Can’t tell you how good they feel (most of them) and encourage me that I can build back some Strength and that my hips are hopeless!👏👏🙋‍♀️

I need to build up my upper legs and core … Covid totally ruined my workout routine. Then I had surgery .. trying to walk longer distances and do some squats .. that’s all my PT has me doing, besides riding the bike😊

Interesting 😊 thank you 🙏 I have have problem with one Kneel, and I have to go up the stairs, foot chasing foot, not as usual. And I noticed that if I raise the hip (of each leg) really high when I go up the stairs, it makes it a lot easier, makes it really easy and light without feeling painful.
