“What is medicine like in your country?”

Me, an American: “Expensive.”

I lived in Japan as well and ended up in the hospital with a HORRIBLE migraine and vision loss. Turns out all the walking you do in Japan REALLY dehydrates you. The doctor told me to drink a drink with electrolytes so I got a CC lemon and within one minute I felt perfectly fine.

I live in Japan~!
I recommend getting a second opinion.

I had similar symptoms because of stress. Thought I was having migraines.
Seems like I had developed occipital neuralgia. The medicine for relieving muscle pain helped a lot. Take care!

I get migraines in UK. I take Sumatriptan 50mg tablets at start of pain. They are super strong, leave you a bit tired but do stop the migraine.

I’ve been living in Japan for 9 years. I’ve had chronic migraines for 15 years now. Japanese doctors have been the only doctors to find the cause of my migraines (meniere’s disease). I don’t recommend going to a hospital for a chronic condition. Go to a private clinic. There you will be seen by the same doctor and nurses every time so you don’t have to explain it again and again. They will have notes about everything you tell them therefore they will be more likely to changes dosage and medications until they find something that works for you. Bonuses: shorter wait times, in-house pharmacist or partner pharmacy within 200 meters, and the cost is cheaper than a hospital (in my experience)
Cons: not open on Sundays or national holidays

Stress and migraines and hereditary factors are linked. Good luck, with your health condition.
I grew up in Japan. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for your hard work in creating them.

I have migraines and although we have pills for migraines, they never worked on me. So I found out what triggers them. For me it's chocolate and citruses (I haven't eaten those for 15+ years). I also need to be careful about my sleep schedule and staying hydrated. With that approach I usually get a migraine once in two or three years. There are lots of triggers to migraine, one of my coworkers gets them because of coffee but she won't stop drinking it so they appear regularly. It can also be a sign of burnt out (that was also the case for me).

Lack of D3
Lack of B12
To much of protein or sugar.
Check those things. Do bloodwork.

I have a rare condition called Vesibular Migraine, and have migraines for MONTHS at a time! So I have tried everything I can find! There are some great suggestions already. I found an ice pack on my head (they have migraine ice pack hats on amazon) very painful at first, but then very helpful to reduce the swelling on the brain. You could also put an ice pack on the back of your neck, or put your feet in an ice bath to pull the blood away from your head to reduce symptoms. Dark rooms, quiet rooms, Therapeutic Massage, herbal tea, Magnesium, and head massages also help. If you have sinus pain, then nasal antihistamine. I hope you find something that helps! I now get infusions for migraine, which is helpful too. The barometric pressure is the worst for this! I hope you can find relief soon!

The Japanese attitude towards migraines is summed up in one statistic.
70% of people who suffer from migraines never seek medical help.

Edit:

Roughly 30% of migraine sufferers also experience "visual migraines."
It's a type of partial blindness that's usually temporary....it's only the fear of going blind that gets them to go to a doctor.

It makes sense why your videos haven't been super positive lately. Something like pain absolutely affects your mood and everything in your life. I hope you get better soon. Remember to hydrate and take a rest from the noise and overstimulation. Best wishes from Finland.

As a Turk I can say that we are one of the best countries about hair transplanting and plastic surgery. Our medical system is not bad but people are using it unnecessarily. Like even when they just have a runny nose they go to a doctor . And unnecessary patients makes doctors tired and at the end of the they they’ll won’t be able to function. But our medicine is pretty great and affective . Most Koreans who come here but medicine to bring back to Korea with themselves to use .😅. But if its chronic than you have a problem . If you ever get a chance to go outside of Japan to Europe for example I would reccomend going to a doctor there.

Excedrin migraine pain medicine for me and ice packs on forehead. A dark room also helps. Excedrin is available on the counter in US don’t know about Japan but if and when I travel to India I carry my own big bottle from BJs wholesale or Costco . If you can or someone of yours can bring the medicine for you from America then ask them.

You can ask for different medicine if the one you got didn’t work. The doctor probably prescribed loxonin but there’s medication specifically for migraines. Also there are hospitals with less waiting time/reservation so you could change hospitals if you dislike waiting.

On the migraines
Try writing down items affecting you before/during the time
I had migraines that after doing this I found weren't stress related as I thought but were from a combination of foods and existing medication I had been taking

Try coffee ☕️ caffeine can “interrupt” the body enough to stop a migraine. Ibuprofen can also help, as well as specialized chiropractic neck adjustments. Also you can ask your doctor about beta-blockers. I hope you feel better ☀️
