I am personally more afraid of chimps than sharks.

It is completely foolish to treat a wild animal as a domesticated animal.

To everyone who is curious. Moe did NOT participate in the attack. The attack was done by two chimps who were there at the time due to the door left open. The other two chimps were Buddy and Ollie.

Imagine a chimp grabbing and completely tearing off your genitals. And then literally watching it eat them. Right in front of your eyes. That's gotta leave some type of trauma.

How does nobody talk about the person who left the cage open, truly unprofessional. Because of a stupid employee his genitals are gone.

No way Moe escaped and was never found. He was either secretly moved elsewhere or was killed at the sanctuary and it was covered up.

This one is especially sad because it wasn’t even his chimp that did it. He’d come to visit the former pet he’d clearly adored who was already in the sanctuary to keep citizens safe, and he still lost so much

I lived in West Covina during that time, and I remember seeing St. James always sitting in his front yard with "Free Moe" signs. Then I never saw him again. I never knew he was attacked by other chimps. So sad 😢

This story is even more horrific than the incident of Travis the chimp in 2009. And it wasn’t even the Davis’ chimp Moe that did it! The adult chimp is an animal that is to be feared and respected. Never to be owned as a pet.

Some parts of the narrative in this story are misleading. It should be clarified or at least stated that Moe never harmed neither of the Davises during the attack.

I remember my dad telling me this story when I was younger. He said the other chimps were jealous of the birthday cake that’s why they attacked.

Ladonna probably deserves more love from st james. She took him back after humiliated and left at the altar, accepted a chimp instead of a human child, and devotes her life to caring for him post chimp attack

4:49 That’s one scary looking chimp!! 😳 The muscles on it, the teeth, the grimace he has and the lack of hair. All those things make it look absolutely terrifying

The one without hair looks like something out of a horror movie.😮

The fact Moe didn’t participate in the attack is amazing.

Chimps like tigers and lions are very cute and innocent when young. Later they become unpredictable.

I cannot imagine going through this type of pain. And James was a handsome guy. Why couldn’t they have just gotten a damn dog???

I bet Moe was devastated when his father figure was attacked. Poor Moe.

The people running that sanctuary need to be brought up on charges. That’s 3 fucking CHIMPANZEES they let escape. Two in one day. What do you mean you forgot to lock the cage??
