How To Breathe While Jogging

In this video Patrick McKeown explains how to breathe properly while jogging and running.

Start gently jogging with your mouth closed.
Just breathing in and out through your nose.

Have your tongue in the roof of the mouth and get used to breathing in and out through your nose during jogging.

If your mind wanders off while jogging bring your attention back on to your breathing. Continuously bring your attention from the mind onto your breath.

Ok, this works!!! Just did my first mile in 10 mins. Normally I’d do 14-15 mins. It was also much much much easier than breathing though my mouth and my stomach didn’t burn at all.
I simply focused on my breathing and wow.

I remember a high school coach (forgot where) about 12 years ago; that did this breathing technique just through the nose only with his runners. It took place in the summer time right after school and their track season was over so it would give them at least 2 months or so to adjust and get used to breathing that way just before the cross country season began and he saw that some of his runners have significantly improved in times and also any other illnesses as well for example asthma, completely gone

I jogged a mile and a fourth of one in 12 minutes during phy Ed without stopping. Gotta say when you have your friend with you it gives ya a bunch of motivation because you think “well he’s still going so I guess I have to to”

Way back when I started running using the Maffetone method nasal breathing become natural.

When Kipchoge ran the marathon in 2:00:23 he ran with his mouth semi open and looked like he wasn't gasping. Relaxed breathing is best.

I use the jog with the nose since many years already and also at high speed.
But still my BOLT is only 23-25.
It seems that is is not sufficent to arrive at a good score.

Fact is, I do not get enough air in under load! Without load, no problem with nosebreathing, I usually do it! But laying down and as well under load - no way nosebreathing isn't enough! Therefore mouth taping during sleep does not work either! This training is for the happy few! Btw, I'm doing breathwork for more than 40 years!
