If you’re ROUNDING your spine in your Half Splits Pose, this might be WHY you're not making progress!
I often hear this cue in yoga - “forehead to knee” - and then I see people get their forehead to their knee - by using the flexibility of their BACK, not hamstrings (hence the rounded spine and tucked pelvis).
Your pelvis is the steering wheel of your hamstrings, so if pelvis is tucked under, then the hamstring shortens.
When you correctly create an ANTERIOR TILT in your pelvis (tailbone up), then you actually STRETCH your hamstrings! 👏
So if you’ve had chronically tight hamstrings - no, you’re not broken.
Instead of focusing on getting forehead to knee, scale it back, take a look at your form, and with my adjustments, you’ll make those flexibility gainzzzz.

About Jacquelyn Umof (aka Action Jacquelyn):
Jacquelyn is an international yoga and fitness trainer, educator, speaker, and founder of her two online training programs - Get Stretchy, a yoga therapy stretching program, and the Stretchy Fit App, a yoga-fitness monthly membership app helping women gain flexibility, strength and confidence at home. She’s a former ballerina, NBA Laker Girl, ballroom dancer and celebrity fitness trainer. However, in her career she found herself suffering from crippling anxiety and panic attacks. This led her down a path to discover a natural solution to her suffering instead of medication. After one of her first yoga experiences, Jacquelyn found that when she became present in her body the anxiety went away. The anxiety couldn’t survive in the present moment. After this pivotal moment, she realized she had the least anxiety when she had the most mind-body connection. This has inspired Jacquelyn’s work after her transformative breakthrough experience. Jacquelyn is passionate about educating people on the importance of stretching and how it builds a better, stronger relationship with their body and mind.
