Love watching videos from Fanad. My grandparents, Barney Shields and Catherine Carr were from there. I visited once and saw the house my grandmother was raised in, Fanad is beautiful.

Yes indeed! That is John Reaff, himself! This video does appear to have been shot sometime in the 1990's. I, too had the pleasure of meeting John, along with my mother, her sister and my cousin Flossie.

He invited us into his humble home, where we sat down on an old backseat from an old automobile. Not one to be wasteful, John would boil his morning eggs and save the water for tea later and that is how he served us our tea.

He is intelligent, the smile of a character who stayed at home, strong, fresh air, the lucky ones stayed at home.
