If they want to go the route of no Sims 5 and just want to keep adding to Sims 4 for all eternity, they seriously NEED to revamp and re-release a newer vastly more updated version of Sims 4. They CANNOT just keep grafting new features onto the limiting and awful spaghetti code of Sims 4 like its Godrick from Elden Ring (especially with them wanting it to be a """foundational""" Sims title) 😭

"Creator kits" sounds like EA trying to make money off of CC. EA knows very well a large chunk of their customers would rather download a free (better looking and functioning!) item that someone made as a project of love, rather than their crappy, overprized stuff

Well, RIP the sims. It was an amazing 25 year relationship that I had with you. It seems like we want different things, though, so now it’s time to mourn the relationship drifting apart and go our separate ways. Thank you for being my favorite game while you were my favorite game. But I understand you have a new path now, and I will find other games that bring me joy- even if it is different.

To keep adding on to The Sims 4 into all eternity is like trying to build a skyscraper on top of rubbles. They need to start out with a strong foundation if they want the game to last forever. They have already confirmed that many things players desperately have been wanting for years, will not be possible to have in The Sims 4. We will never see cars, more open worlds, a color wheel or being able to build walls off the grid… EA will not be able to make The Sims 4 as big as for example Minecraft, because the base game is too limiting.

My issue with no Sims 5 is that the Sims 4 is INHERENTLY lacking due to the way it was coded as an online game. We want more depth and we want things like cars and bands and preteens and I don’t think they can give these things to us unless they completely overhaul the game’s code (which they obviously wouldn’t do).

I get you all are upset about sims 4 core engine, but what i am really upset about is ea outsourcing playtesting to fans. Play testing should be done by professional game testers, not by people who love the game and will get burnt out from actual play testing. You know you have to repeat the same task a million times, with slight variations and if something behaves weirdly you have to repeat it even more times. I don't think its the right call, to outsource it. EA pls test your games.

I honestly would love to see the sims 4 team doing revamp / refresh more than ever. From the core mechanic, to appearance of the game, anything. Fixing bugs that are still annoying people to this day, fixing core mechanics that doesn't work, remaking (for example) old stuff so that it doesn't look flat or low-quality (I'm pointing at the ball pit and lots of flat zipper clothes lol), and more.

i think it makes sense for them to have project rene be its own game considering how many new sim games are being released lately and how they could be a threat to the sims/ea but if they’ve decided the sims 4 is going to be *the* sims game going forward they could’ve at least spared a happy 10th anniversary tweet lol

the one thing making me not abandon the sims completely was the promise of an eventual Sims 5. I can’t believe they’re making this decision, it is the worst decision they could have ever made. Hinging your entire franchise on an outdated, broken beyond repair, soulless game? This is the final nail in the coffin for Sims, I actually feel like I’m in mourning right now. But at least this was the kick I needed to delete my game and wait for Paralives!

I'm not upset about no Sims 5. I'm not upset about more packs, kits, login rewards, etc. I just want an ACTUAL base game update. New color swatches for furniture, rugs, and curtains, and FIX gardening and cooking.

i genuinely don't think their plans for the sims 4 will go as well as they think it will if they don't fix the foundation of spaghetti code that the sims 4 has had since launch. they really need to take the time and effort NOW to fix it before adding upon the 10 years of content or they're gonna regret it 🙄

It definitely just reads as a series of announcements that they’ve sat down and looked at the math and it’s easier and more profitable to loop in CC creators as paid content sources they don’t have to invest in producing and keep throwing out paid DLC rather than go through the expense and risk of developing an entire new game. There’s no universe in which I buy that this has anything to do with consideration about people not having to start over with a new edition.

I hope they do open worlds, it's super annoying to have to go to a random lot to access something in world, or have a loading screen to go next door.
