As a musician, team flow is EVERYTHING in our field. Being in sync with your colleagues and really locking in is a transformative experience. The audiences tend to agree!

When you think about it, team flow makes a lot of sense. After all, we did evolve to be social and to hunt in 'teams.' Being in team flow would make it much safer than if one of the team members was distracted (SQUIRELL!).

i've had that feeling of being in the zone before when writing with my best friend. We were hundreds of miles apart writing a story together over AIM. We wrote for a good ten years or so and some nights the writing was just so good every piece just landed perfectly and we didn't really plan things out, just let the whole thing evolve and grow organically.

When you get into the zone with someone you really trust and its going good it's like a drug. It just feels amazing. They pick up what you're putting down and know exactly where to take it.

As a drummer, I've felt group flow state on stage before. In those magical moments it's like the whole band is performing beyond our normal skill level and experiencing what feels like (but obviously isn't) telepathy in the way we notice and communicate the subtlest non-verbal cues. It feels magical. Glad to know some of the science behind it.

Digestive medications having an effect on the brain is a connection that has been know for quite some time. Haldol and Droperidol are antipsychotics medications that are also commonly given as an antiemetic. It's always cool to learn about new developments and research, awesome video as always.

A couple of years ago, while working at the Fitzgerald Theatre, when I realized a good band is Group Flow, and those who know flow can ride their flow. I now understand Deadheads.

The prucalipride study makes me really happy and excited because I have a lot of depression and memory issues. It gives hope that there may be something in the future that can help.

As an orchestra teacher, orchestra member, chamber player, etc. I’ve often seen and experienced the team flow state. Especially in high level orchestras, the experience of playing all together with amazing precision and excellent musicianship is an amazing experience. I often relate it to my students as a super power, and I’m glad that’s backed up by science now. :)

I love that the flow state is real. Its one of those things that sounds like pseudoscience but isn't. I just wish it were easier to trigger.

Fun seeing a drug positively showcased that was developed for treating one affliction turning out to be beneficial in treating something different.

That is a really fascinating study. I think the next big breakthrough in treating depression will involve our guts. We already know it provides most of the serotonin in our bodies, and there are drugs used to treat depression that also alleviate issues in the stomach and intestines. I will be interesting to see what else we discover.

I've always said that a lot of my emotional issues would disappear if I could just give less of a crap.

5HT4 is a type of serotonin receptor. LSD agonises the 5HT2A receptor, and also cures constipation, and migraines. The migraine tablet Sumatriptan agonises the 5HT1B and 5HT1D receptors. And MDMA agonises various 5HT1 and 5HT2 receptors. The wiki page for 5HT receptor is pretty interesting, it has a table outlining the function of each 5HT receptor in the body. I suffer from migraines, and noticed that my migraines coincide with gut immotility and low mood.
