The enzyme that could help 700 million people with chronic kidney disease

Approximately 700 million people worldwide now live with chronic kidney disease (CKD), largely due to a huge spike in obesity and type 2 diabetes in recent decades. Low levels of NEDD4-2 exacerbate kidney damage, even in the absence of a high-salt diet and in people with low blood pressure. This critical finding could change the way that kidney disease is treated, explains UniSA researcher Dr Jantina Manning in this video. The long term goal is to develop a drug that can increase NEDD4-2 levels in people with CKD, helping to stem the 29 per cent increase in chronic kidney disease in the past 30 years.

klotho is the enzyme that reverses kidney disease. This enzyme is predominantly produced in the kidney and decreases as we age. It pretty much regulates everything that gets out of control in kidney disease. Klotho enzyme regulates the metabolism of calcium, potassium, phosphate, and glucose. klotho also has antioxidant properties and is involved in adipogenesis, angiogenesis, and insulin signaling. That is why things that increase klotho also help patients with kidney disease; examples are, exercise, probiotics, ACE inhibitors, vitamin D, cordyceps and more.

Very light on specifics! Frustrating!

Time restrictive eating, fasting, and cutting out carbs/sugar. That's it, pretty simple. You're welcome.

Meanwhile, in the US, a woman reversed stage 3, and a man reversed stage 5 kidney failure. They both went carnivore with salt.

I hope and pray that this research be given government support to hasten the development of the cure for us kidney patients. This would save so many lives, thanks for the initiative. I believe in your research.

Excellent 👍 video my advice for you all. Reduce your meal rations to the minimum Heads up! 🚫 not saying do not eat at all, if you are a meat eater, reduce it, if you eat carbs, veggies and meat, same thing. Avoid foods with high potassium content, like bananas or, reduce it. Be careful with oscelate, just about all foods has it. Same thing with sodium That's why size portion management is important. I 🙏 pray Christ all the time, May he be with you regardless of your ☯️ religion

I'm the type of person who doesn't like drinking a lot of water but that gradually took a toll on my kidneys especially now that I'm almost 50. Word of advice, take care of your kidneys and drink more water! Since we're talking about Kidneys, I've read online that Tongkat Ali can prevent kidney injury caused by excessive paracetamol consumption. Is this common knowledge or am I just not well-informed?

One characteristic of many of these so called health videos at least as it relates to the kidneys is that this ground breaking research seems to always be focused overseas. I am just saying from the videos that I have seen.

The information is interesting, but the background music is annoying. This isn't a melodrama, drop the music.

High sugars are the culprit - cut the carbs eg via keto or paleo or carnivore way of eating.
Sodium (from salt) is super necessary - DO NOT cut salt - body is well adapted at regulating salt (but has trouble when insufficient salt).
