This might help some of you like it has helped me.
1. I eat 20% fruit, 25% raw vegetables, 35% cooked vegetables and no more than 4 ounces of meat daily.
2. Eliminate white processed flour products and went whole grain (learned to bake my own bread, one loaf per week).
3. No chips of any kind (popcorn once in a while).
4. A glass of pop once per week (usually on Saturday snack night).
5. 32 oz of water daily, 4 oz of prune juice daily
6. Exercise 15 min per day (walking, swimming, gardening etc.)
The above has helped me as I now go every day and am losing 1 to 2 pounds a week of excess weight!!!

The very last thing you need in a constipated situation is a health care provider that’s not down to earth, is not understanding and who doesn’t seem to care. I wouldn’t be afraid to go see doc Chung if I had to and that’s a great review ☺️

This guy must be fun at a dinner party 🤣 In all seriousness, I really appreciate guys like him posting potential remedies. In the old days, before social media, this wouldn't have been possible.

I can't believe that I just Subscribed to a Proctologist! But this guy is top-shelf, with character, class, and comedic style. Thanks, Doc, you kept it real!

I was happy to have come across your video. I have had IBS-C since i was 5. I cannot tell you how many times i went to the ER with hideous pain. I have had all the tests and they always come back normal and it is just IBS-C. I suffered to the extreme. Then 3 yrs ago i thought to myself that if you are impacted the doc will remove it manually. Ppl have anal sex. So i tried to dig it out with a glove on and it worked really well and have been doing it ever since. Seems all it is was it just wouldn't come out so all that was needed was to get a little out and the rest would follow. It has been Heaven sent. I call it THE CURE. I am a 76 yr old female.

I really LOVED your entire presentation... not the actual procedures, just the way you so openly discussed a vital part of our daily lives in such a straightforward and often humorous way. Keep up the good work!

I've never been constipated up until 5 weeks ago . I started getting mucus when I wiped then my stools got harder and harder until I ground to a halt. My stomach went rock hard. Now I keep myself hydrated and PRUNES and bananas. This morning I finally emptied my pipes! What a relief. P.S. your a stellar Doctor !

Warm prune juice is the answer. When I was backed up in Germany once I couldn't find prune juice in the supermarkets. But in the UK it is widely available. Pour a glass of prune juice and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Test the temperature with your finger. If necessary, put the glass back in for 10 seconds. Note that the juice should not be hot, and just lukewarm won't work either. Once you think you've hit the right temperature, drink it down in one go. This has an absolutely disgusting taste, but about an hour later you will start to feel like you're ready for the toilet. The effect of just one glass of prune juice can last for several hours, so be prepared to visit the toilet more than once. Especially useful to remember if you decide to go shopping.

I’m so aware of problems like some of these having experienced some myself. I lost my mother from colon cancer and my sister from an intestinal blockage. My mother never had a colonoscopy because she was afraid to have one. Sadly it cost her her life. I am very pro active in my colon care. I can’t thank you enough for your videos. They’re so helpful and informative. Thank you so much.

Vegetarian for 51 years, eating a lot of whole grains, fruit, vegetables. But now and then I get constipated. I learned when I was 21 that part of it is some kind of emotional thing. I remember writing a paper for college. Once I finished writing the paper (not typing it as in the old days you had to do but finishing with the creative part), I would need to run to the bathroom. Whenever my mother or sister would call me, I would have to run to the bathroom. Finishing things can do it. When I need to take something, I like AloeLax with fennel. That always helps.

You seem like such a nice, friendly doctor, a doctor who seems to take his time with you, and you seem like you listen to your patients.

I think you gave great advice and weren't afraid to talk about the stuff that can be uncomfortable to hear and do.

If I ever had to go see a proctologist, not that I ever would want to, I would hope it was you. You are awesome! You’ve helped me so much. 🙏

Back in the 1980’s several people in my church tried what might be called “the orange flush”. Might be another name for it. What it was is that you bought a lot of the best oranges you can find, and on a day you are staying home you eat one orange after another until you have an eventful bowel movement. One older gentleman in church who had a large belly tried it and lost over 20 pounds. I’m a slender man. I was the last person in my family to try it and yes sitting on the toilet I reached a point of very strong abdominal pain then it all passed, and made enough noise that everyone in the house could hear it. The odd thing is that just before it all passed it felt inside me in my left lower abdomen that something was peeling off that had been there a long time and it had been very well attached to my large intestine. I’m 57 now and I’ve stayed basically slender most of my life besides a spare tire years ago.

I take a magnesium citrate pill every night. 250mg. If I don't drink enough water and/or I sit too much, I get constipated. I noticed that every time I fly to Europe, or drive half a day... I eat prunes from Costco when I remember, but mostly walking, drinking enough water and the 1 pill of magnesium citrate at bedtime works the best for me

Thank you Dr Chung. 54 male stuff is just hard to talk about when you've never had these issues, embarrassing, being scared, what to do . A pleasant voice and encouragement is just what I needed❤❤❤

An elderly neighbor was unfortunate to have acquired a very uncouth caregiver. The neighbor became constipated, and asked the caretaker to get her some glycerine suppositories, ad they were used in the nursing home, previously. The caretaker refused...and she did this kind of behavior often. I purchased a small bottle of . Glycerine, and a plastic dropper, and it was just enough to soften the hardened stool that i is sometimes the reason for temporary stops., Caretaker was eventually let go!

Thank you. [Not an easy subject]. But my whole family suffers from the issue and of course- I inherited it from both of my parents. So I have basically suffered in silence. [All my life]. I hope some of these suggestions work for everyone. May you, your family- and your ministry be blessed.

Wow-such a down to earth doctor-love this guy! Just went through this and watched all your videos on the subject. Thank you so much for the clear, easy to understand advice-esp. determining when to go to urgent care/doctor. Unfortunately, I experience "the back-up" a few times a year but these videos will still be in my library to help me get through it. Thanks Doc!
