Call centers will destroy your mental health. If you suffer with anxiety and depression I really advise everyone to stay away. It sounds good in theory, then you see the mental strain, the ignorance of management and lack of understanding.

my job is giving me anxiety and panic attacks. once I can save enough to get what I want, I will quit soon.

I've worked in a call centre before so I know first hand exactly what you mean. Its because of my call centre experience that I now try my very best to be as nice as possible to the workers there. The other day I had to call Paypal customer service and as frustrated as I was, I kept my cool and was nice to the lady on the other line. I'm sure she appreciated it.

Omg 😲 this is true!!!! I've been in a call center for almost 4 months and I believe I'm a few days away from calling it quits.

You’re like my smart, wise, helpful dad I never had. You tell the truth about these kinds of jobs. Because of my horrible call center experience, I’m alway very nice to call center reps whenever I have to talk to them.

I have worked at call centers here in El Salvador and i was working from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm with people yelling at me the whole time. And i was making $16 a day.

So true !! Inadequate training SUCKS !! Especially when customers catch on that you don't know what you're doing & especially when they start yelling at you.

I have to agree with this. Call centers are really garbage places to work and can drag you down to the ground. I'm currently trying to find my way out of Alcatraz aka Call Center Job. May just have to quit soon and start over as it literally is the silliest business in existence.

Callcenters attrition rate is like...WWII Normandy shit. I was in a training class of 30 people. Within a month we were down to 5 of us. Only I managed to stick it out for a year.

im suprised that rude callers dont worry for there wellbeing, any upset rep has all your infomation etc, think about that! I was a call ctr rep and one caller cursed me out regarding billing, i was being monitered that day and was told next time control the call and do not ask for a supervisor. I was sooo upset i took down that customers info and wanted to call an let him have it at 3am. I never did it but thats me!. Be nice to a rep because you never know!.

Serious question here: do you think working at call centres brings on passive aggressiveness, functional depression and even mild schizophrenia? I feel like all I do outside call centre work is sit in my room with headphones on watching YouTube or sleep. I used to enjoy music and yoga, dancing, cooking - now I just focus on getting there 10 mins early to log in so that it doesn't come off my pay.

Our call center has about 10 different rules for dealing with credit cards if you forget and break one, they will pull you off the floor. Some customers get pissed when you are verifying their name is on the card, verifying their billing address, and so on. Guess some customers haven't heard about all the data breeches lately. Living under a rock or what?

If you ever interview in a call center, watch how the HR person treats you when you show up to interview. WATCH. 98% chance they'll treat you like a beef cow.

The reason for AHT in most call centers is service levels. Most call centers (obviously not Verizon, but places that deal with consumer finance, utilities, or other companies) have contracts with their clients or their vendors for whom they take calls stating that X% of calls must be answered within 20 seconds, or 30 seconds or whatever the time frame may be. That's why so many call centers offer VTO or voluntary time off - they're meeting their service levels towards the end of the month and they don't need to keep agents on the phones (or the payroll) beyond the bare minimum.

I just work for Chase call center in Lake Mary Florida for about a year-and-a-half I actually made it a man called up and because he didn't like the options I gave him he threatened to come find me at my job I hung up on him told my supervisor there was an investigation supposedly and they felt that the man wasn't actually going to do anything against me I'm glad they felt that way but I told them that I felt threatened I was the one who took the call and that's what the man said to me and they did nothing about it they actually wrote me up because of the way the call went anyway I don't work there anymore to say the least
