In this video, we’re going to talk about high triglyceride levels and what you can do to lower them. Blood fats are known as triglycerides, which are the main component of fat cells.

High triglyceride levels are not caused by the fats that you’re eating, they’re caused by the carbohydrates. Carbohydrates convert to triglycerides with the help of insulin. Insulin resistance keeps your blood sugar high and the high sugars are converted to triglycerides.

If a person with high triglycerides removes carbohydrates from their diet, they can quickly lower their triglycerides. If someone has a genetic disorder, removing carbs from the diet may not lower triglycerides completely, however this is rare.

Triglyceride levels are determined by the following ranges in American units:
•Normal= less than or equal to 150
•Slight risk= 151-199
•Some risk= 200-499
•High= greater than or equal to 500

Absolutely correct doctor. I cut down my carbs, the triglycerides came crashing down without medication 👍👍👍

A month ago, my husband's medical blood analysis results of having triglycerides of 1K+. I was so nervous that I immediately had him to no carbs and high fat diet, not as strict as keto but almost ( no pasta, bread, pizza, sugar, sweets and all, that is). I started watching your videos and have increased more of my knowledge that Fat is not the enemy but sugar. Had his blood check yesterday and got the results today and I swear to God his triglycerides is down to 127. I almost cried. He lost 9kg in the process too, he only plays football once a week.

Last year Dec 2017, my triglycerides was 308. In April 2018, I started intermittent fasting and on a low carb high good fat diet, . I has been eating in a 6-8 hours window since then. In Dec 2018, my triglycerides went down to 81 and my HDL was 70. My doctor was surprised. Overall, I have lost 15 pounds and looks young. I'm 61.

I cut my triglycerides from 387 to 79 by simply cutting out carbs. If I do eat any carbs it's in the form of vegetables. Great information thanks for the content

Guys,
My triglycerides count was 600 few months back. I blood tested twice and it was 600+ every time. I tried exercises and stuff but it was high even after that... then 10 days back I started Keto diet and now when i tested for triglycerides the result was amazing... it has come down to 152.. all i did is i stopped eating rice, fruite's and sugar.. and starting following keto diet.. high fat, low carb & medium protein.. black coffee without sugar, lemon with salt and at night time water with a t-spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.. with Omega-3 capsule (fish oil)..
hope this helps..

True. My mom’s cardiologist wanted to put her on chronic statins. I recommend her to just fast and lower carbs, and eliminate refined carbs.
5months later all her indicators improved to excellent. 💪🏻

I was just told my triglycerides were 277 and my cholesterol 243. I told the physician I want to try strict keto before I have it rechecked. They want to put me on losartin but I won’t unless I absolutely must. I lost 40 pounds last year in keto and following you but I’ve gained it back through many bad choices. I must face it: Being on keto, I felt better than I have since my 20’s. I’m 65 (next month). Thank you so much for all you do, Dr. Berg. I hope you and yours are well.

I thought I was on a "low carb" diet and my triglycerides were 500+. I then also cut out all alcohol, which included very strong craft beers, and they came down below 200. After seeing the good doctor's other videos I realize there is not a "healthy" amount to drink. Now that I am totally on the keto plan, things are much better, including my blood sugar. THANK YOU DR. BERG!

My lipid panel results in Nov. 2022 was
Total Cholesterol 284
LDL 197
HDL 75
Triglycerides 61
My doctor strongly recommended me to take medication. I quietly disagreed.
After changing my lifestyle to IF (18/6) with keto diet for about 2 months without doing exercise, my lipid panel as of today is
Total Cholesterol 263
LDL 166
HDL 88
Triglycerides 48
Thank you so much, Dr. Berg!!

My mom got diagnosed with GERD 2 years ago so she cut out most of the fats out of her diet (per doctors advice). And guess what her blood work just came back with triglycerides at 300!!! I’m trying to convince her to start keto and ACV so we can turn things around. Thanks Dr Berg for all that you do :)

About 10 years ago I was pre-diabetic / had metabolic syndrome, about 50 pounds overweight, had high triglycerides, and my doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol lowering drugs. I told him I was going to work on my diet and exercise and would be back in 3 months for a checkup. In that 3 months I quit junk food (most processed foods), exercised regularly, dropped 10 pounds, and blood work was perfectly normal. My doctor was amazed.

You are absolutely right Dr. Berg . I eliminated sugar from my diet more than a year a go now, and my trig. number went down from around 170 to 80 in our units.

Thanks for the information. I was under the understanding that I had high triglycerides because I was taking in more fat but after watching this video, I come to understand that it’s the carbohydrate raise the triglycerides. This formation is excellent. Thanks Dr. Berg!

My triglycerides are at all time low. I really like to rub that in to all the people who think me eating so much fat and no wheat bread is killing me.

This is 100% true after cutting carbs and sugar my triglycerides went from 479 to And my cholesterol went from 333 to 220. And it only took 3 weeks. . Cardiologists were trying to make me take statins and told me there was no way I could get my cholesterol and triglyceride lovers down without statins.... They're an evil drug I hope no one is on them

Mine is 156. I became worried till I read the comments here. People here are talking about numbers far in excess of 200. Those are very worrying. Wish you all the best in your recovery.

Thank you so much for your explanation of triglycerides. Thinking about it, my diet is fairly high in carbs, particularly rice, and pasta. Will cut them out, then have the triglyceride count re-done in about a month. It was only a few points above the minimum count, so not desperate, but worth working on. Thank you again, Dr Berg.

I came here to see how long it takes for Trigs to go down.. The comments here are amazing! I never knew they could go up to 1000! But that they can come down so quick is awesome. Good luck to everyone who cares about their health and their loved ones. Thanks Dr Berg.
