Let’s talk about a potential cause of autism and some things to do if you or a loved one has autism.

Autism involves inflammation in the brain and a lot of free radical damage without enough antioxidant protection.

Autism spectrum disorder has also been associated with mitochondrial dysfunction, high homocysteine, and amino acid abnormalities.

Common deficiencies in those with autism spectrum disorder:
• Antioxidants (especially glutathione)
• Vitamin A
• Vitamin E
• Vitamin D
• Zinc
• Selenium
• Magnesium
• Omega-3 fatty acids

Based on this data, here are a few tips for those with autism:
1. Get on the carnivore diet (include eggs, seafood, shellfish, organ meats, and microgreens or sprouts)

2. Increase glutathione by consuming NAC and selenium

3. Take cod liver oil to get omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and vitamin D

4. Consume vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) and folate (methylfolate)

5. Take CoQ10 and Methylene Blue

I have autism and a masters degree in biology. When I finished school, I did a Google scholar deep dive on autism and do literally everything on this list except methylene blue which I may try. I even grow broccoli sprouts and eat them every day, and take every vitamin you listed (we’re truly on the same wavelength 😂). I don’t do a carnivore diet but do eat a lot of meat and eggs while avoiding gluten and dairy. All the plants I eat are high in polyphenols which are important for the gut microbiome which is also disturbed in autism.
I also recommend exercise. It’s been so helpful. The specific exercise types for autism are zone 2 jogging to build up the mitochondria, and zone 5 as-fast-as-you-can running to create physical stress on the blood brain barrier to rebuild it (you should make a video on this, the relationship between BDNF, cardio, and the vessels of the blood brain barrier, it’s very interesting) and to promote mitochondrial biogenesis.
Another thing that is extremely helpful is keeping a good circadian rhythm. I see the sunrise outside every morning, tan at noon for vitamin D (I’m not sure supplements are much help), and wear blue light blocking glasses after sunset.
Doing all of this for a year, I am better than I ever thought possible. It’s borderline a miracle.
Thanks for making this video.

Its is a huge relief to receive this information. My 1st son was born early because my placenta was starting to calcify & was later diagnosed with autism. When I was pregnant I didn’t have much support, so It feels like a miracle to know I can heal my children. I used to feel so helpless and hopeless. I was even close to believing something was wrong with me & I didn’t want to give birth any more out of fear of not being able to give my children a good life. I felt so much shame for not being able to create healthy babies. But I see now I didn’t have enough support or information. This brought me to tears. Thank you Dr Berg

I'm ok being autistic, but improving my diet and exercise is what helped me conquer the depression and anxiety that results from living in a world not designed for us.

I’m beginning to think that a lot of todays health problems and illness are due to deficiencies in our lifestyles and nutrition. I also think one solution doesn’t work for everyone.

Having worked with children with autism, I think it would be very difficult to get them to eat the necessary foods. What would be beneficial would be the invention of a complete vitamin and mineral liquid supplement the is odorless and tasteless. Children with this condition are hypersensitive to smells, tastes, textures and sounds. They have sensory disorders. They often eat a very limited diet. I have worked with kids who will only consume a certain potato chip and cracker which are both highly processed with little to no nutritional value. I really believe a liquid supplement is the answer because it could be added to whatever they drink or eat. I hope scientists will work on it because it is so important to their health.

Some tips for the parents who are laughing thinking how on earth can they get their children with autism to eat any of these things hehe... 1) break open a dessicated beef liver capsule and mix the powder into some applesauce with some cinnamon. This works surprisingly well! Also, beef liver can easily be incorporated into pasta sauce and no one will be the wiser. 2) Selenium and magnesium can also be found in brazil nuts, which can be baked into so many yummy things or ground down and added to oatmeal. 3) Vitamin d can be bought in drops and added to any beverage you give to your child. Hope this helps!

I am a father of a beautiful 7 yo daughter who has Autism diagnosis - Dr Berg has hit all the right points and this is arguably the best most concise video to explain the array of deficiencies hiding behind the Autism diagnosis … I would only advice parents to be patient while checking all these boxes, as the recovery path can take 3-5 years, but once you hit the pinnacle- the benefits are for the lifetime of your child …

I am a mom with a nonverbal autistic daughter. With my research I have found out that majority of autism children actually have the MTHFR gene. I think that is what he was getting at which is why they need the methyfolate, and meth b12. I have been using these protocols for 6 months she has now went from nonverbal to verbal. I would also add that the detox bath has helped tremendously. Ever since I have found out my daughter has the MTHFR gene I am finally able to understand how to help her.

I have a daughter with Autism and after a lot of research I have started her on almost all of these diet changes that you recommended and it has been a lifesaver! You can completely see the difference in her behavior by day 1. When I took gluten and dairy away from her food, she miraculously started to smile and have eye contact the next day. I am forever grateful for your videos and information Dr Berg!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:00 🧠 Autism may involve oxidative stress leading to neuronal toxicity and brain inflammation due to inadequate antioxidant protection.
00:28 🌿 Common deficiencies in people with autism include low levels of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, magnesium, and omega-3.
01:07 🧬 Oxidative stress in autism can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and elevated homocysteine levels, which can be addressed with B12, folate, and amino acids.
02:17 🥩 A modified carnivore diet is recommended for autism, eliminating potential allergens and including foods like eggs, seafood, shellfish, and organ meats.
03:38 🌱 Adding microgreens or sprouts to the diet can provide essential nutrients and antioxidants, especially when grown in soil.
04:33 💊 To boost glutathione levels, consider NAC and selenium supplements, while cod liver oil can provide essential nutrients like EPA, DHA, vitamin A, and vitamin D.
05:23 🌈 Opt for methylcobalamin for B12 and methylfolate for folate to lower homocysteine levels in individuals with autism.
06:08 💧 Methylene blue, in small doses, can help reduce oxidative stress in mitochondria and improve autism symptoms, along with vitamin D3 and Coenzyme Q10.

As someone who is currently teaching special education class that is made up of mostly autistic students, I've always wondered if their diet can reverse some of the side effects. I always thought that nutrition classes for parents needs to be a must, especially for parents that have children with special needs.

I have a granddaughter that was perfectly fine reaching all her milestones until about 18 months of age when she got her first MMR shot. She had a really high fever and she even broke out in a rash that looked awesome similar to mumps. This all happened within hours of her first MMR shot. After that she quit smiling she started banging her head on furniture back rests. She is now six years old. If she’s angry she growls at you she still bangs her head on furniture backs while sitting, it’s a struggle to get her to smile. It just seems so odd. Last year the school sent a notice that she had to get her second MMR shot so we had to get a note from her pediatrician stating she could not have another MMR shot. I just feel it’s so sad you can’t get away around these shots until the damage has been done. And because she’s so young you can’t get her to eat good things that are good for her. She will eat yogurt, the other day she ate corn on the cob, she likes a lot of fruits. But our food is so contaminated by pesticides and herbicides. She loves strawberries but that’s in the dirty dozen. Seriously with what the government allows in our food and what the government requires for shots to get in school we’re basically screwed as a society. They don’t give one rip if they are teaching an autistic child or a normal child at the end of seven hours they get to go home and rest and relax. Meanwhile moms and dads I have to deal with these children day in and day out. Children that have been damage from their toxic waste they put in us. Like fluoride come on! But who am I the crazy grandma. What Input do I have?

Liver pills have made a massive difference to my 5 year old's symptoms. 6 grass fed bovine a day. I can't overstate the difference liver has made to us. Now the whole family takes them!

I think you're right. I was diagnosed as 'high' functioning so i had no learning issues but i actually function in life very poorly. When I did keto I thought 'this must be how normal people feel' (had to stop as i had no access to a kitchen due to a renovation for a long time), almost all my very unpleasant symptoms improved including seizures which are more common in women and girls with autism. My good symptoms stayed.

Ive started again now. I definately believe in the gut brain link and inflammation. The best time for me was when I was eating fermented foods yogurts etc. I'm having a terrible time right now. I experienced psychosis for a few days which was terrifying. 34% of autistic people will experience this on and off through life. Doctors have never explained to me that it is linked to autism. My family are trying to make me take medication for it but I refuse. It's passed now but I need to get back on track food wise incorporating these recomendations. Thank you.
