The floggings will continue until morale improves

Good to see medical burnout is measured like fire department burnout. My favorite was the time the incident safety officer went around the fire camp waking up the day sleepers to ask them if they were getting enough sleep.

Half the problem with healthcare is people that aren’t doctors making up rules for doctors 🤦🏻‍♀️

So true, and yet didn't even touch on the real dark side of these modules -- they're documented "training" so the hospital is not liable when physicians commit suicide. The hospital did a pulse check, advised all its docs on how to "cope" and stay "resilient" so it's not on them.

Isn’t satire supposed to be an exaggeration of reality rather than a documentary about it?

The military is also like this. Makes you come in on a day off to talk about the growing suicide rates and while everyone wants to be home with family and friends.

This is literally what happens in the military as well. "Oh you have stress? Oh you miss your family? Oh you just had a 8 month underway working 16 hr days 7 days straight a week. You just came back from a combat deployment...heres this resiliency module...must be done at work to show us how tough you've gotten and how good we are doing at giving you this training."

Bill : What if we just got, paid more?
Admins : Ah yeah don't worry, we'll pay you in thank you emails, cold pizzas and even more mandatory resiliency modules. You're welcome :)

Ah yes, the perfect cure to burnout and people feeling stress due to too much work: present said person with more work that does not directly relate to their job that they clearly do not want to do and make a penalty for them not completing said work. Only now that work has a smiley face on it so that makes it better.

"publish it in the New England Journal 😂😂🤣"
this really hits deep

Laughed out loud. Had to finish a module on "empathy burnout". Watching a cartoon isn't going to make me care any more when people in general don't care.

As a council worker in the UK who has been in the office every day of the pandemic, I feel very much feel seen by this. Especially the 2 hour Microsoft Teams meeting for mental health and wellness that is scheduled for the afternoon while also being expected to ensure that the work for that day is carried out.

All I know is Jonathan finished all his modules first and now everyone is being forced to do it.

I REALLY don’t understand why they think giving burned out workers more work will help them. They do know that burnout is caused by massive amounts of stress and work, right?

Damn- this makes me sad because it’s so true. I recall a time when I was in med school a professor said, “We have added two chapters and subtracted one test. You will still be expected to learn the material and compete with PhD’s for grades. One thing I’ve learned throughout my years of teaching is that no matter what we throw at the class, you will do it.”

We had to do those modules as a full-ass course the first semester of law school. To this day, I have more resentment and PTSD-like reactions to mindfulness and exercise than I do at the thought of never sleeping again.

This reminds me of the mandatory “team building” we all did in the 90’s. We all went to the woods and did “trust falls” while our work was piling up and needed to be completed.
As I always have said …..just because I held your hand in the woods doesn’t mean I trust you….”

"You can become resilient on your own time." This sentence hurts. Can we get Bill his own mafia to intervene for him?

It’s like my inner frustration has been manifested into a YouTube short. It’s funny but also not funny and disturbing. My organized provides free talk therapy, I think it’s the only thing that helps me. Ok! Love the channel doc.

Your work is brilliant. This lunacy of administration wasting time is legendary.
