A good friend Mike is a contemporary worship leader in a large church. Mike sat by the bedside of his dying mother. She ask Mike to sing hymns to her as she was dying. Mike told me he learned that night that the modern feel-good songs have no comfort or assurance to a departing soul. All that night Mike and his mother sang from an old 1941 Broadman hymnal. In the early dawn she was still singing with her last breath as she passed on to Glory.

The old gospel songs are what touches my heart as the spirit moves on me. Praise God. Glory to God. Hallelujah to the Lamb.

It is obviously not a ministry anymore. It is an industry.

It became bastardized the second there was a market for it.
The biggest shame is that most use it as a front, not to actually follow Jesus.

I always had Christian music on. My mom would tell me to turn it off. She told me its not real. It took me back. Shes been with Jesus for 9 years. I know what she means now.
She loved the Lord. She knew.
I miss her so much.

How about also highlighting Christian artists who do faithfully honor God’s Word via their music?

I use to donate money to K-LOVE and enjoyed Lauren Daigle until I notice they were singing what God should do for me. I fear God and not man. Thanks for making this video and reassuring me of what I knew was going on.

As Christians, it is not only our duty to stand for the Truth, but to separate ourselves from those who are teaching error. This video makes that very clear.

Lauren Daigle has been sold out since she came as a Christian!! I was very disappointed of her answer!! Sin is Sin! We cannot sugarcoat the truth!

I wanted to know why contemporary Christian music is deceiving me!! Not how much money they make or how compromised they are because of who they associate with. I want to know why the music is deceptive, the music!!!!

I will never understand why so many "Christians" are hesitant to call homosexuality a sin. Are you telling me that if you had a thief in your life, a fornicator, or somebody who constantly cheats on their spouse, that you couldn't call out any of those actions as sin? Din is sin and we as Christians MUST have the fortitude to call it out!

Praise GOD for younger Christians like yourself who faithfully defend the word of GOD!!

I haven't listened to CCM for 20+ years. When I was younger, I became familiar with the _CCM machine_ and saw all I needed to see. Not that everyone affiliated with CCM is corrupt, but far too many unbelievers are involved in making "Christian" music simply for the money. God WILL have the last word. These people are going to seriously regret their involvement when they stand before Him and are forced to answer for potentially misleading so many.

_Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things._ Philippians 3:17-19 (ESV)

So true. We need music that teaches Biblical doctrine like the old hymns. I used to love contemporary Christian music until I started really studying God’s Word. Now I’m more discerning. Many times I won’t sing the “worship” songs in church because they are not worshipful and I know the composers are from the false churches like Bethel and Hillsong.

I can recognise the statement, “Many will be called but few will be chosen.” It’s upsetting to see Christians being tricked into turning away from GOD.

I worked at Pamplin Music Distribution from 1998-2001. Pamplin was the only label that was Christian owned. All other Christian labels were/are owned by secular companies like Sony and Warner. Even though Pamplin was Christian owned and independent of the secular industry, it still had many of the same problems that you see today among professing Christian artists signed to the major secular companies. Don't be fooled by the CCM industry.

While Dr. Pamplin may have had good intentions when he started his own label, he was perhaps naive to think that he could compete with the big record companies without opening up his small company to all kinds of corruption. We had executive parties, for example, that looked no different than those of the secular companies.

And poor decisions were made for the sake of money. For example, in 2000, they had Katy Hudson on their radar and were thrilled to eventually sign her to a deal. She was 16. Her testimony was not grounded in biblical truth, but the A&R guys at Pamplin didn't care, so we released her first single in the summer of 2001. Meanwhile, however, Dr. Pamplin had become aware of some of the immorality behind the scenes, particularly involving his VP son-in-law. Rather than try to keep the company going, he shut it down. We closed our doors in December 2001. What became of Katy Hudson? She became Katy Perry.

What was going on with Dr. Pamplin's son-in-law that had come to light in 2001 was apparently the last straw. In 1999, one of our younger artists had been in a relationship with a guy from another well-known Christian band. When our artist became pregnant out of wedlock, Dr. Pamplin severed her contract. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. When your company is in Oregon but you have producers and engineers in Nashville, you can't possibly know, let alone control, all that goes on there, but what you do find out is enough to tell you that it's very corrupt. So, eventually, Dr. Pamplin shut it all down.

We don't worship artists, we absorb the Gospel, it's the word the keeps us moving

The fact that it is even called an "industry", "scene" or whatever is a clear indication that something is amiss...

Make no mistake, I also listen to contemporary Christian music, but I am VERY selective and re-evaluate my choices. The melody, lyrics, AND the lifestyles of the writers and singers are incredibly important.
